S mode
#2
In S-mode the car starts off in 1st gear instead of in 2nd like in C-mode, the revs tend to go quite a bit higher before it upshifts, i.e. it hangs on to each gear a little longer, it downshifts more quickly, and I am pretty sure the shifts are quicker (although it is hard to tell the difference - it's milliseconds of difference, I believe), but they don't seem noticeably harsher. The transmission actually seems to "hunt" less in S-mode because it uses more of the rev range of each gear, if that is what you meant when you wrote "is the gear always jerking around". In either mode, the gear shifts are smooth. I have only tried M-mode a couple of times, just playing to hold a particular gear; once in traffic to hear the exhaust (induction moan?) when lifting off the gas from 5k+ RPM down to ~2k RPM, and another time accelerating hard into a right hand curve onto an overpass just for grins when no other traffic was around.
This is the second post of yours like this that I remember replying to. Are you having problems with the transmission in your car? If so, you should be telling the tech at your dealership about those problems.
Hopefully this helps.
