Any S-Class Owners?

Hi everyone,

My father is looking into purchasing an S500 or S55 AMG (2003-2006 model year) because those were with clear headlights. Also, he actually liked those body styles better than the new ones. Anyways, I am wondering is it a good car? tell me the pros and cons about it...

thanks

i have a 2000 designo s500 and an s550 20078
both bought new from the dealer.
very happy, but my 2000, has had its fair share of issues, depending on where you live, 4matic is a must, the interior on the 2000+ is out of this world.
the navigation system is outdated, but the sound system, fit and finsish , and other tech toys, linguatronic, are all upto snuff.
by far one of my favorite dd.
i love the the designo orange brown special interior...gorgeous.

Thanks for reply, did u mean that the 2000's navigation system is outdated or 2000-2006 navigation systems are outdated?

essentially both nav systems are outdated. the 2000's especially, mine is often wrong and the user interface and buttons for nav take some getting used to and seems somewhat antiquated, but the car is old now so, i would say it is like this on s500s upto atleast 04-05....the command aps system on the 07 is more to my liking, if u can shell out for the 07 design or series, i think its well "worth it"...
i love both cars, the s500, beautiful interior, drives like butter, tech a bit outdated but superior to most cars today, quick, comfy, great for long trips... timeless
the s550 a spaceship meets discoteque...nuts, engaging drive, cool, not as smooth as the s500 but more fun...
both cars go quick
the s500 at 200kmh feel like 140kmh
the s550 at 200kmh feels like 200kmh-not scary or uncomfortable, just a different feel, more nimble, but still a boat, plenty of tech toys too.

Alright thanks for your comments guys, one more question...

Between the S-Class, Audi A8, and BMW 7 series.. what depreciates faster? (lets say we look at an S500 4Matic, Audi A8L, BMW 745Li)

id say the benz and bmw would lose the most the fastest, then the audi...all will lose quickly and significantly...but it depends on what year youre buying.
if your buying an 04 for i dunno 30k, there isn t a ridiculous amount to lose...wheras if u buy new its obviously a different case.
if you are buying older and used models, i dont think depreciation will be huge, but it will def be present, 5-10k depending.
\personally, though, i lost 135k off my s500 since i bought it, probabaly would have lost less if i bought an a8l....but then again, i would never buy that car...they dont compare.
