99-01 E55 AMG, OWNERS need your help
I have bought Audi's all my life thus far and the AMG bug is starting to get to me. So I'm curious about mainly the 99-01 E55, I drive daily (about 30/50 miles) how reliable is this car? is it famous or known for certain failures? things to watch out for?
Obviously I am trying to get the newest car for the money and I have my eye on an 01 with 100K any suggestions, feedback would be highly appreciated

Baker,
In the last 10yrs I have owned 5 MZB, two of which have been AMG's. Like your Audi's, the German engineering is top notch. Once you own one, you'll always have one.
Down sides: Some have electical gremlins. Service and parts tend to be expensive vs. comparable Japanese vehicles. Ex: Lexus, Infinity.
IMHO, if you are looking for a simple E-Series before all the electronic aids and somewhat lower weight you can't go wrong with the W210 model, they are the most reliable. Since you mentioned that you are looking for at an '01 E55, I am thinking of selling my '01 RENNTech E55 with only 19,000 miles. Why selling? Don't get to drive enough. Bar none, it has to be the cleanest you'll find and needs nothing. Interested?

No problem D-UBER this is a cool thread, maybe we can get more AMG'z to post. Your car looks amazing, I think I might be under your price point (pretty sure ). Im interested though the reason I asked about the 100K mile cars is because those cars are in my price range; $10,000. I've been hearing great things about the car, Im looking for a daily cruiser with some attitude and your RENN definitely has it.

Had 2 01's and a 99. Would NOT...
own a 99. Build quality is better (though not be a lot), Tele aid, steering wheel controls, better radio, better steering wheel, body trim panels are much nicer. That being said, one of my 01's did have some serious electrical gremlins that went away, but not after many trips to the dealer. By the time I sold it, it had all gotten smotthed out and was nice to drive. Better do your homework.
