thoughts on the G 55?

I am now sort of wondering if maybe a G 55 would be better for me than a Rover. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks...

If money were not a consideration, I'd take a G55 over the rover, just because of the power and the old-school style, which I happen to love.

However, it's hard to justify $100K for an SUV.

There was a recent comparison in one of the mags putting a Kleeman G55 versus a blown hummer (is that redundant?)...check it out. I think you'll find the Rover pampers your a bit more than the stark G...

If you get the G 55 you'll need a Blue helmet (seriously don't they look like the U.N. aid worker vehicles to you guys?)

JC - they ARE the UN vehicles. In fact, the G-Wagen is the Hummer of Europe. It's the official military transport vehicle of much of the civilized world.

Unless it handles and performs like a sportscar. Unfortunatley, the G55 does not meet that criteria.

I would suggest the G. I like the looks.

I also have 2 very picky clients that own them. All they do is rave.

Pointless 4X4 for the price but man do I love it. It's one of those things that you can never rationalize.

I love the looks. Love the AMG engine. Love the axles. Love the tiple lockers.

But I guess the RR is a better car.

But I'd take the old school G anyday!!! Give me a SWB convertible G55, and I'll be happy!!!

I went with a friend of mine to take delivery of his G55 over Thanksgiving weekend - it's DEFINITELY a cool car (pretty quick, too!). I really dig the side-exit exhaust If I was buying a new SUV, though, I'd spend my money on a Touareg TDI.

The G55 is a tank!! It's a rock solid tank!

It has all the attributes of a tank:

1) Lots of torque
2) Crappy fit and finish

I think the Range Rover is nice.
