Anybody with a early 2000 CL600?

Hello everybody, I've been reading up on a few certain Mercedes models, randing from the SL55 to the CL600.
The price on the CL600 is within a 20k mark, has a v12 motor, 2 door coupe and looks stunning.

My question is for anybody that has one, how is it? hows the maintenance on it and costs for repairs?

I've read on here that some of those dinky 2-seater Kompressor Mercedes are fairly low in price but the repair costs far exceed what the car is really worth.

The online road and track reviews of the CL600 are pretty strong and they state that with the v12 it's a beast of a car but I'm wondering if anybody has had one and their down to earth opinions.

Thank you

My wife has a 2001 SL600 (which I assume has the same engine). We have owned it for over three years. It is an incredible car. The engine is absolutely amazing....tons of torque and smooth as silk. It has been very reliable and the build quality is fantastic. It is my wife's dream car. I am a Porsche enthusiast...but sometimes I would rather drive the SL than my 911.

Thank you

I've looked at the E55's and a few other cars and I do love the CL600 for the looks, engine and seems to be a pretty good car overall.

I'd be scared to own one if you are on a budget honestly.

My uncle has one....2003? Its a piece of junk. Its super torquey and fast, but he has had so many problems with the engine. It has had numerous oil leaks in the engine and had 15k worth of repairs done to it, but it still has the same problems. The car is just parked in the driveway now just collecting dust. On the other hand, my friend has a 2004 Cl600 with no problems, and my other friend daily drives his 04 SL600 with 79k flawlessly. I guess its kinda risky, either way V12 cars are tricky

You will be paying 20Grand for a car that cost over $120K Brand new.
Replacement parts do never get cheaper with time.

I used to want to own one, but after seeing the cost of the parts, I backed out.

I owned a 03' CL600 for about 8 months/10k miles. I really enjoyed the car alot, 03' was the first year for the V12 Bi-Turbo. Very similiar to the CL65/SL65 engine. It makes almost 500HP and the acceleration was very smooth, actually too smooth for my taste. I prefer the aggressiveness of the CL55/E55 etc. I Sold the car last year for mid 20's with 45k miles. Also if you get the AMG package in 03+ the bumpers have larger grill openings. (look like CL55 AMG) 01-02 CL55 where NOT Kompressor's either

The only problem I ever had was the door latch. See when you open the door on one of these cars (Or E36/E46 M3's and Most Luxury Coupes) the glass drops down about 3-4mm. Right before I sold it, it intermittently would malfunction and not return the glass back up. Which was a really big deal, but was $500 just for the door latch.

If you can deal with a 2-Seater I have a 03' SL500 AMG Package with 55k miles and 19" CLS wheels.
