Yeh I didn't have trouble with mods... it was everything else.

I'm liking the new models though with the turbo engines, that will respond even better then the s/c motors.

As far as handling goes with this car, I think the times around the lap with the stig should say enough about the car and what cars it beat!

IMO, its hit or miss.

Some MBs just seem to have nothing but problems and others are great.

The CLS is a decent looking car. I like the 55 over the 63 in regards to performance. And that was my major reason for picking up a E55 over an E63. ECU/Pulley and its a whole new game on this car.

Best of luck.

Ive yet to find a sedan that is more beautiful than the CLS, that alone makes all the little electronic headaches worth it, at least for me.

The CLS truly is one of the prettier cars made, the first gen ones are better looking than the current models IMO and the 6.2 V8 that MB had in so many of the AMG models is one of the better engines I've come across. Like many have said just be sure to have a warranty or have a rainy day fund if/when things go wrong because repairs can add up in a hurry.

When the mileage gets over 70,000. That is when I ran into issues on my previous CLS.

Best car I have ever owned. Has everything I look for in a Mercedes.

I dont drive mt car often i think i drove it once last summer. Electrical stuff is the concern with these cars when modified and tuned properly they are pretty stout.

My 2007 CLS 550 has been totally bulletproof. One warranty issue in 70k miles (suspension air pump).
I follow the service book and do the work myself.
I replaced the rear brake pads at 35k. Two sets of tires (my heavy foot).
Otherwise, this is the most reliable car I have ever owned.

I agree with you guys: I have been enjoying looking at those CLS of the past.....
any time I ever see one it's a really nice thing to see.....where I live in NC you don't see many either........
I have been totally loving my CLS63 that I've had since March of this year: ordered it
new with CF trim and the P1 and also P30....oh and LSD.......lol......
one of the best designs out there!!! and also a leader in the trend of the four door coupe......

at delivery:

Tried some Vossen CV1's....

and now the beloved HRE

Have my CLS55 Amg for 3 yrs. Bought with a cpo that covered some electrical
Problems that turned out to be a loose wire that caused a variety of symptoms.
Replaced door handle sensor, center speaker, plugs and valve cover gaskets in
The 25k miles I've owned her. Not bad in my opinion.

Owned my CLS55 since new, only 31k miles now. Great car. No mods other than 20 inch Brabus wheels. Only one problem so far - was a sensor related to the ride height, cost about $1k to fix, but other than that, no problems!

Very few cars can match it from 30 - 70mph -- that is why I keep it.
