I'm thinking about trading in my Carrera 4 S for a c63 black series and wanted to hear some opinions. I posted a similar thread on the 997 board and I'm sure it's not hard to imagine what sort of response I got. I thought that maybe I should get some opposing opinions.

Basically I'm annoyed because I have to carry golf clubs in my front seat and am considering getting a car with a trunk. A third car is not a viable option for me and this will be a DD for me.

Opinions??

 

Get the C63 BS coupe!! That thing is gorgeous!!

 

Get the C63 BS. It will be much more fun to drive than your current Carrera C4. I currently own a CLK 63 BS and love it!!

I guess either way, you can't go wrong. I'd take either one over the Carrera.

 

Keep the Porsche and get a used C63. 4 doors, lots of trunk space and plenty of fun. If you can afford to play golf you can afford three cars. It's about time you added another stall to your garage anyway.

 

the sound alone would make me pick the black....everyone has a 911, go for it!

 

not getting a third car and third garage has less to do about finances and more to do with lack of space. My house in Hermosa basically occupies every square inch of usable space so adding another garage isn't an option, not unless I want to go underground. Parking on the street is a problem 'cuz the streets are so narrow and there are already so many cars parked there already that it would likely get side swiped in a short period of time.

 

There is def no reason for you to get a 3rd car, a 911 is a great experience I currently have one, but once you own one it's great to try out something new/different. I know how they handle and feel but my dads clk55 amg feels just as good. Steering is concrete and feels great. Then there is v8 torque....a blast something my old 911 cannot beat, nor A4:P. He has had the car for a couple years and over 50k miles, not a single problem.

 

How many miles per year does daily driving mean for you? If it's over 10,000 then don't waste your money on a Black Series but get a loaded P31 coupe. It will have just as much street usable performance at a fraction of the cost.

 

I currently have 2 997's - a GT3 and Turbo S Cab and have ordered a 63 Black Series and am hoping it is the perfect weekend toy:

- Focused and quick enough to feel special a la GT3 or better

- Practical enough to be used for weekend ferrying of kids to and from sports and social activities with fun in between (4 seats + trunk)

- Hardcore enough to be spanked round a track now and again

 

Over the years, I have had several Porsches including two 997s. When I decided to buy an AMG, the Porschefiles gave me a bunch of crap. I have had my E63 for about 18 months. It has been a great car. The car gives me the best of both worlds, performance and comfort. I will say my Porsche had a litte more curb appeal, but for that hasn't stop me thinking about buying one of the new generation "Black Series". Good luck on your decision.

 

 

How about getting a 2012 E63 Coupe. You will have a lot of space in the trunk!

 

C63 AMG Black or used CLK63 AMG Black.....this coming from a former 997S owner myself.
