New to the Merc Famliy: E63 AMG

Picked up my E63 in Flint Grey/Black Int, yesterday. Took me a week to decided between that and an M5. Have to say I'm very happy with my choice.

After doing too much research and tons of test drives, I arrived at the E63. IMHO, its quite a different car from the M5 though they are compared in every test. M5 feels very connected, but is missing somewhat of a gentleman's approach and touch. Moreover, with a M3 already in the garage, it felt somewhat redundant-I'm not brand loyal by any means. Quite impressed with the interior of the Mercedes and the creature comforts.

Coming from a M3 I was expecting that the Merc would feel a bit disconnected, but thats what I was looking for this time. A classy ride with decent power that can disconnect you after a long day at the office. Sounds crazy, but I cant describe how refreshing it feels. It actually makes me appreciate my M3 for what it is. Somehow they compliment each other.

Thanks for the good info here...will post some pics soon!

E63's are starting to pop up... I have yet to hear a negative response. The car is a monster.

I drove both the E55 and the M5 and as you can see I liked the E much better. The interior in the M5 pales to the E55/E63. If I wanted a track car I would not buy a sedan.

Nice looking car. I have an appointment next week to test drive an Indium?? silver one. Have not seen one up close but looks very similar to the E55. Thought they did a minor face lift with the '07 E-class. Is the difference more noticable in person? I assume one buys this car for the performance but in your opinion does it look TOO similar to the 40,000 E350?

There is a difference, especially on the front fender, side skirts and rear. Guess you have to see it in person to catch the differences. Looks similiar to the E350 as the M5 looks similar to the 525i. Meaning, overall they look part of the same family, but the exhaust, wide stance, fenders, huge 6 pot front brakes, 6.3AMG gives a hint that this is something special.
