Should i go for the 65?

s65 does not touch the flying spur in terms of performance
your gazzillion lbs of torque is never going to be used on the street because you are rwd, and traction control always kicks in
and while there are not as many s65s on the road as flying spurs, there are 33500 more s classes out there , than flying spurs
a chipped flying spur will walk an s65 from 0 to 100
but why are we talking about 0 to 100 on these kind of cars ?

In every test I have seen the Flying Spur does the quarter mile in over 13 secs while the S65 remains in the mid to upper 12s. Although the flying spur is no doubt better in handling (not by that much), I really doubt it beats a S65 in straight line acceleration or breaking. But if you want a great drivers car, I wouldn't go with either. I think there are plenty of better cars out there for the price and even cheaper.

Heres the stats of road tests conducted by Car & Driver (other magazines are similar) and I will post an article for you too about comparing the two - I dont think even a chipped Flying Spur would help much with the extra heft it carries! DOUBLE CHECK YOUR INFO!
Mercedes S65:
Zero to 60 mph: 4.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 9.2 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 21.4 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 4.4 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.4 sec @ 118 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 158 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 154 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad*: 0.90 g
Bentley Flying Spur:
ACCELERATION: Seconds
Zero to 30 mph: 1.4
40 mph: 2.4
50 mph: 3.5
60 mph: 4.6
70 mph: 6.2
80 mph: 7.7
90 mph: 9.3
100 mph: 11.5
110 mph: 13.8
120 mph: 16.3
130 mph: 20.0
140 mph: 24.3
150 mph: 29.0
160 mph: 34.4
Street start, 5–60 mph: 5.4
Top-gear acceleration, 30–50 mph: 2.7
50–70 mph: 3.6
Standing 1/4-mile: 13.1 sec @ 107 mph
Top speed (drag limited, mfr’s claim): 195 m
Lets compare a few things:
Mercedes gets to 60 0.4 seconds quicker, to 100mph 2.3 seconds quicker, and to 150mph a WHOPPING 7.6 seconds quicker!!! If they race from a roll 5-60mph the Benz is there in a whole second quicker. At the qtr mile the S65 is 11mph faster and 0.7 seconds quicker getting there. Read any article and you will see that the FS does NOT out handle the Merc either (see below article) - not sure where you get your info. - check out skidpad numbers - .90g for the Benz pretty impressive for a sedan vs. .86 for the Bentley.
BTW - my Renntech Merc doesnt have a governor so it does 195mph and the qtr comes in 11.5 @ 125mph+. If you got a chipped Flying Spur you'd like to run me with I would love to demo for you! Oh and I use my torque just fine thank you
Also - I really love the fact that the braking on the S65 is superior. 70-0 in braking is 154 vs. 167 feet - 13 feet is alot when you are trying to stop a car weighing over 5000 lbs!
Dont get me wrong - I love the Bentley but you should check your facts before stating all this nonsense.

i never said 0 to 150, because after 70,80 the s65 does not face anymore traction problems
also
i dont want to see what magazines publish, i could care less if they said the f.s. does 0 to 60 in 2 seconds ...
i have driven both cars in the same day a few days ago, for street driving the f.s is quicker

..and I wasn't just talking about 0-150 - all they way across the board its kicking the bentleys butt. You talk about street driving, well 5-60 is a good comparison then, 1 whole second is a lot. Then look at say 60-100 as in just driving on the freeway and accelerating.... the S65 gets to 100mph 2 full seconds quicker then the FS.
So, either you were driving some S65 that had issues or you just had such a hard on for the Bentley that you come on here and talk about how much better of a performer it was then the S65. Im thinking the latter. Like I said, I like the Bentley (I actually strongly considered the Cont GT initially but BECAUSE of the performance vs. the S65 I didnt buy it) but facts are facts.

maybe, you're right
it could be possible that the particular car i drove had issues.
i think it's a great car
would i spend $192,000 on it ?
no
but i respect it for what its capable of
i think from a luxury stand point, which is the only rason i would spend 190k+ on a big 4 door car, the bentley has it in that area ?
btw, if the s65 a 7 speed or is it the 5 speed?
it could be possible that the particular car i drove had issues.

I preffer the S65 over the Bentley Flying Spur, The Flying Spur is just a Phaeton with Twin Turbo's and the Bentley emblem and thats from my perspective. Want a "Real" get the Bentley Arnage T.

Mean Machine,
with all due respect
the phaeton is an amazing machine, and has more technology than anything mercedes benz s65 can offer.
please understand that by saying that, you are also saying that the bugatti veyron is also a phaeton because it was designed by the same engineers.
if you actually drive both vehicles, you will feel that the bentley is built better. and with the adjustable air suspension, it can give you a very luxurious ride, or if you choose, it can give you a stiff ride
add the awd and a silky smooth w12 engine, and you've got a winner..
btw, the s65 is a great car, it all comes down to personal preferance
but to say that the flying spur is a phaeton, and im assuming that there is somthing bad about the phaeton is just a dumb comment to make

Here we go again...the Phaeton offers more technology then the S65 (or any S for that matter) ??? I don't have the energy...so when you get a chance go look up all whats offered on both cars - mechanical options and all the bells and whistles too - then after you slap your head and realize oh man its not even close (kinda like the performance comparitive you did between the S65 and the Flying Spur) take a few tylenol and go to bed. I'll start by just listing a few things that Mercedes does offer like Distronic, parktronic, rear view camera, turn lights, continual fan/heat system after car shut off - called rest function, suspension lowering/raising on the fly, command system, hands free voice communication and control system, etc.. etc.... If you still disagree I will take more time out of my day to do a better list for you

I would honestly prefer the S600 over the S63 due to how much nicer the interior is. The S600 stock from the factory is about as fast as the S63 is, if not faster due to the torque the biturbo V12 provides.
With a simple RENNTECH upgrade to the S600, you have a reliable car that is as fast as the S65 with a much more plush interior. In fact, I think it may be my next vehicle for this very reason.
Don't get me wrong, I love the S65...and if you RENNTECH that you have one hell of a car! The only thing that makes me consider the S600 over it is two reasons: it has seats that are arguably more comfortable and more importantly I believe the S600 would be more quiet (more sound proofing I believe, it also doesn't have an exhaust system). Unfortunately, having a quieter vehicle is a priority right now for me.
