Just like has already been said, do not buy one without a warranty. Other then that they are great. Can't beat that kind of perfomrnace out of a four-door sedan that is also comfortable and luxuirous.

I am on my second and this is the first time I have bought the same car (ever!) I had a 2000 E55 and loved it. Then bought a Range Rover Sport Supercharged and kept it for 9 months. It was nice and all...but no E55. Then I drove and bought an 05 E55 2 weeks ago. Been loving it. I looked at the E63 but could not justify the extra $24k it was going to cost. So my opinion is that it is a wonderful performance value right now! Buy it

I highly recommend this car. I just wish MB still made it.

E55's are sweet. Only real complaint i could say is the air/water intercooler will heat soak really bad and seem alot slower after a few hard pulls. Traction is another real problem. The eletronic brakes work wonders too. Definately stay away from the panoramic roof, they will squeak and pop. Try to get a starmark warranty if its out of the 4yr/50k. they are very enjoyable cars. 2004 and 2005 are pretty much identical. In one of the model year changes they went from 2 to 4 piston rear calipers i believe. The 2004 is quite a bit different from the 2003 through. Power wise its the same.

I have a 2003 Mercedes E500 (sport) and there are electrical issues with that year. The car is all fiber wiring and that is the ONLY year that they made that mistake. That is why I am lookiing for a 04.

I like the silver, BUT I want to feel like I have a new car, so I am looking for a white one.

Sold 05 E55 for 06 C2S. Also had 05 C55 prior to E55. Hard to compare as these are very different cars. My 2 cents is that I wish I still had the C55 as daily driver and 997S for fun. E55 obviously has more torque/hp but handling is inferior to other 2 cars. Also in my experience had lots of wheel spin and hopping at full throttle making all that power less useful. Agree with the warranty comments as I had several recurring issues (keyless go not working) and check engine light coming on 4 times in 2 months) that would have been quite costly out of warranty. Good Luck.

E55 is much better than the E60 M5. The M5 is high revving, but lacks the low end power. Dont get me wrong, I love the car, but if you want a high revving, great handling car, you can get one. If you want a nice cruiser car with loads of power and torque on tap, the E55 is the car for you!

I like the E60 M5 better overall but the torque of the E55 to get around town is quite nice

I work at a mercedes dealership and the E55 was one of the first cars I took a ride it. WOW.....to beast! The superchargers sounds nasty and the acceleration is brutal.
Funny as crap to pull up to ricers in what looks like a regular mercedes sedan and then crushing them.
The new 6.3 is a totally different feel, the gearing and engine make it quicker, but there is something about the supercharger that I prefer. Can be modded too.

I've heard 04's had some issues but 05's and on are better. But overall it's a great car, with great performance. I prefer the M5, but taste is subjective. Get it. Enjoy it.

In my experience E55 is quicker from 0-100 than E63. After that I don't know.

I don't know, I think the 63 has it beat by a little 0-100 and is definately faster afterwards. It has the 722.9 tranny vs. 722.6, so a couple of extra gears and is pushing 503 horses vs 469.
Torque is stronger on the 55 (I think) so it kind of feels faster.
You might be right though I am not sure about the weight. Either way they are both stunning cars and the 55 is definately a better bang for the buck. Especially with a smaller pulley installed.
