Well, I guess that does mean there is something wrong with it. It was designed wrong . You know what your best option is though!

where am i getting my info?
pretty much all major car mag road test tested the SLK55 FASTER from 0-60mph AND 1/4 mile than pre-07 SL55's. go look up some time slips from dragtimes.com. i dont know of ANY pre-07 SL55's in stock form that can run 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds flat. car and driver tested the SLK55 from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds (1/4 mile in 12.7 sec), and i was able to get the exact same result with my passport gtimer.
most SL55's that ran less than 12.9 seconds had kleemann or renntech mods. if you're talking about modified ones then that's a whole different thing.
the m6 runs 12.4 second 1/4 miles. you are telling me an SL55 runs a faster 1/4 mile than a BMW M6??

look at dragtimes.com ,i think there are some 12.5's on there fully stock.
Second, you are magazine racing, I am ACTUALLY racing. Did you not read that i've run my SL55 in at 12.4 and 12.5 consistently at both Silverdollar near Atlanta and at Lonestar Motorsports Park (the one Hennessey owns) just east of Houston, TX.

... and great excuse, blame the driver of the SLK55... now I see how all these fights on M5Board and MBWorld get started between M drivers and E55AMG drivers.

yes it was fully stock, i was running 20" Asanti wheels on 305/25 Continental ContiSport 3's.
No race gas, no ecu, no pulleys, no headers, nothing. Just normal 93 octane gas from Texas.
Higher octane gas won't do anything for you unless your ECU is tuned for it.

and like 996TTDave said, there is no way an SL55 could match an E55's 1/4 mile time with all the extra weight.
plus, like i said before, an SL55 should be quite slower than the M6 with the SMG transmission which does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and 0-100 in 8.9 seconds. the M6 runs the 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds which you mention that the 493hp SL55 can get.

and while i agree the M6 is prob quicker, the reg M6 is not a drop top, so it doesnt weigh as much as the SL55 - a M6 cab is prob just as fast then an sl55 if not slower and regardless i was always a BMW fan, but imo the M6 and 6 series is altogether a terrible looking car... its a BMW camaro, and i mean that look at a camaro and look at the 6... its a camaro (oddly enough the 6 series shares EXACT demsions with a camaro... go figure )
lol had a slight tint... had it taken off never a fan of tint, although i left it on the rear window
