New E63 with 20" Marion Wheels

Ever since I sold the 996TT, I have been itching to have some hp under my foot and the Cayenne wasn't doing the trick, so I ended up getting an E63 a few weeks ago. I was on the fence between the M5 and E63, but could never get comfortable with the looks of the M5 and the many problems owners still have with that car. Plus, I've never owned an AMG before and thought I'd give it a try. Although the auto is somewhat boring, I just love stomping on the right pedal and walking away from almost anything on the road.

I thought I'd share some pics of the new Marion Forged 3pc wheels that I just put on my Designo Grey E63. I wanted something "similar" to the stock wheel and didn't want to go all black, so thought this would be a unique look. The wheels are 20x8.5 and 20x10 with 245/30/20 in the front and 285/25/20 in the rear. No problems at all with clearance.

I'm heading over to GMG this week to have Vadim do the Powerchip flash, and we will baseline it first on the dyno so I have some before and after comparisons. The only bummer with the 20's is the effect they have on performance, as the car is noticeably slower. Let's see if the flash will cure this issue, if not, I may swap them out for some lightweight forged 19's.

good move to the e63, it looks very mean compared to the post facelift e55 and i hope you got the panaromic roof as i think its one of the best features in that car.

The wheels are nice, but i would still go for the 030 performance package wheels.

In regards to the mods go for an x pipe to delete the resonator, sprint booster, two drop in filters, headers and bypass secondary cats for around 550 to 560 to the crank probably.

Good luck and enjoy.

Looks great. How would you compare the straight line acceleration against your 996 turbo? I'm guessing the e63 is probably a little quicker.

That is a tough one. The E63 does it so effortlessly, that it seems so fast for a big heavy sedan. However, I definitely think the turbo would pull away from the E63 in an all-out drag race.....but then again, I would be able to change the radio stations and make a phone call while in the E63, while racing. I think with an ecu flash, the E63 will be tough to keep up with.

u actually weighed the marions? i had the same style in 22 and compared to other wheels ive had they were VERY light, cant think of any other multipiece wheel thats lighter.. the only thing lighter would be some monoblock forged wheels from volk

those rims look insane! only if the inner color was the same color as the car instead of black.

I did weigh them.

Stock with tires: Front/52lbs Rear/53lbs
20" Marion with tires: Front/56lbs Rear/59lbs

The added weight, plus the larger rolling circumference definitely is noticeable.

Actually, I believe that they are larger than the sl55. If I'm not mistaken, the sl55 has the same brakes that the e55 had. The next facelift on the e-class is supposed to be in 2009 and that means the e63 replacement is due sometime in 2010 as a 2011 model year.
