This is a great lens to have. I'm surprised that yours was made in Japan. Mine was made in Thailand and honestly comparing the quality of this lens with some of my others that were made in Japan, I can't tell the difference.

The original batch at launch were made in Japan and they transferred production to Thailand. Mine was from Japan and I sold it on ebay for $300 more than I paid for it.
