Feeler: Ulysse Nardin Sonata in RG
I bought this watch brand new less than 2 months ago. It has since been worn very carefully and could easily be sold as new.
I just bought a really high priced watch and am toying with the idea of letting this one go to help my cash flow. I'd need $28k to make it work. This is the ultimate travel watch and perhaps the most practical mechanical watch in existence.
I posted a bunch of pics and a link to a video so you can hear the watch here:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ghlight=sonata
I also posted this in a previous thread to explain the functions:
I'll try to explain the functions.
The most simple function is the big date at 4 o'clock.
Next, it has UN's patented GMT+- function. The bottom dial is "home time". The hands are kept set at whatever the current location time is...so for example right now, they are the same because I am home. Say I traveled to NY, I would press the + button on the left side 3 times and the hour hand would advance 3 hours.
But the real special part is the alarm function. Unlike the crappy alarms in most mechanical alarm watches, this has a true gong and hammer mechinism like a minute repeater, and in fact it sounds better than any repeater i've ever heard. It is the only alarm that can be set on a 24 hour clock rather than 12, so if it is 4pm you can set it for 630am and it won't go off at 630pm like every other alarm out there. It also has a countdown timer so you can set it to go off in say 15 minutes.
The complications are combined in lots of very cool ways. For example, when you travel, the alarm timer moves with the GMT buttons, so if you normally wake up at 7am, you do not have to reset the alarm for your new timezone.
For those of you used to quartz stuff none of this probably sounds like a big deal but when you try to imagine how to do this in a mechanical watch it's pretty mind boggling.
here's a writeup on a preproduction piece from a while ago if you're interested:

retail is about $48k by the way. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, the actual selling price is generally about 35 I believe.

However, I doubt that there is a huge market on 6Speed for watches over $15K, even though this is probably one of the more 'elite' message boards I've ever been a part of.

the case is 42mm which I believe is the same diameter although it looks smaller than the skeleton watch because the bezel is thicker and it isn't as flat. It's definitely thicker. It's probably my favorite round case on the market...very unique and cool looking.
If you're interested, you could try calling the UN dealers in your area and see if they have one in stock.
EDIT: Chuck, it's the watch I was wearing when we had dinner
