I have one of these in my 996 and just in case anyone is interested: -
- Fitting it yourself is easy, you need a couple of special connectors - details on avic411.com. Took me about three hours.
- These are AWESOME units. The fact that it can rip CDs onto it's internal hard disk - hundreds of them - is SOOO much better than a CD changer.
- The machine sounds great - way better than the standard stereo.
- It plugs straight into the amp on the 996 - dunno about cars with MOST though.
- The price is VERY good. There is an upgrade (the Z2) out now, but many are saying the Z1 is better as it can be "hacked" to allow you to operate it fully on the move.
