No offense to anyone; but why not just trust yourself and change the oil yourself? Less hassle & headache and if you screw up; you can only blame yourself?

I have to agree here. I always do my own changes on all my cars. The Porsche isn't any harder than any other car. It costs me way less to do it myself too.

Exactly, considering the dealer wants a arm|leg just for labor; heck and then they hassle you into getting other b.s related stuff done.

many people dont realize that Taylor does not have a service writer or any help from the office..They rarely give messages or find out how to help his customers..The guy does everything(takes appiontments, answers questions, does all the advertising, orders parts, does all the paperwork /tickets,oh yea he fixes all the cars too)it doesnt make it right but now you know..I asked him about this ,he basically said that appiontments were made and broken, also one time told the car was coming over with a friends car also for both oil changes.without appiontments,he just is not set up for that. One guy..I recall Taylor helping you with something on the rear of your car, tires,or something at one of his free tech things..Its ok to speak your mind,he just does not deserve that.

Nothing let me repeat that nothing that Taylor has done to my car was for free. I paid him for all the work performed. I have nothing agianst him at all. Like you said he does super work! But he is running a business and needs to treat customers like customers. I have tried to send business his way. But when he refuses to returm phone calls or respond to emails he is no longer a business I need to do business with. If that is how you like being treated more power to you. If he could get his customer service act together I would not hesitate doing business with him again!!

Still not sure what he does not deserve? I as a customer deserve to have my calls and emails responded to. His lack of response told me he is not interested in having me as a customer. Nor my friends who I tried unsucessfully to send his way.

Sorry if the above offends you. But paying customers expect some customer service!

For the guys saying do the oil change yourself I agree and do that on all my other cars. The Porsche oil change is not hard but my catch can is to small for the job and I can not lift my car enough without damaging the spoiler. Sooooo someone else needs to do it.

Peace to all

I have been back in NOVA now for about 5 years. The Porsche shop that I used to use and the mechanic were gone so I initially tried a lot of the shops mentioned until I found Taylor working out of GAG.

It is a hike and a half from my place North of Reston to Springfield, but he is literally one of the only wrenches that I trust with my track car and now my Spec Boxster.

Anything I can't do myself or don't want to tackle goes to him.

Fair and square, fixed what was actually broken as opposed to guessing. He has also done several M96 motor replacements and rebuilt my G96 transmission. He is pretty much the exclusive mechanic that me and few fellow instructors and racers rely on.

Real shame that he is a one man show.

I just got my car back from Taylor. I agree that as a busy guy he was not the world's fastest to turn the car back around. But I did find him to be very responsive to both telephone calls and emails. I second that it seems best to contact him directly instead of contacting the main people at GAG. Taylor has a webpage with his email and phone number. It's a little confusing, and I'm still not quite sure whether he is or isn't officially affiliated with GAG, but if you treat him like his own independent shop, I think that works best.

In the end I am happy with the work he did and his prices on parts and labor seemed good for the area. He even had no problem installing parts I provided.

Just my two cents.

Do you have Taylor's contact information, he no longer works at GAG.

Hi,

Taylor got his own shop about 9 months ago. He moved to Sterling, VA (very close to Dulles). It's a lot further for me, but I still take my car to him. In fact my car is there now with the engine out, so if you go by, say hello to my car for me!

Here's a link to his website:

I call over there frequently enough, and either he or his other mechanic Andrew always picks up.

Hope this helps!

Greg

There is also Green Motorsport in Springfield (2 or 3 miles south of GAG). I don't know anything about the shop, nor own a Porsche but I pass by it heading home from work. They are also a board sponsor.
