Annual Fall Meet, Drive & Dine

This Sunday is supposed to be warm & sunny. Please join us for this incredible run!!!

When: Sunday, November 8th. We will meet between 9:00 – 10:00am for a prompt 10:15am departure time.

Where: We will gather in the parking lot of the Starbucks in Mt. Airy, MD. There are several gas stations and places to get coffee and breakfast also… Directions below:

Bring: A full tank of gas, an appetite and a FRS or GMRS handheld radio (tuned to channel 7, subchannel 21) if you own one! It’s not a necessity to own a radio but it makes it easier for us to keep in contact…

Meal : We will be having lunch at one of our favorite tour stops: THE COZY INN in Thurmont

Route: This route will take us through 2 little known tunnels following the Civil War Trail through very historic areas of Maryland. The scenery on this tour is breathtaking and the roads are VERY challenging.

From RT 270 DC Area:
Get off RT 270 at Exit 16A which is Father Hurley Blvd/RT 27 Mt. Airy exit… At the end of the exit ramp bear RIGHT on Father Hurley Blvd / RT 27 and continue thru Damascus past I-70 then continue to the 2nd light… You will see STARBUCKS on the left… Turn left at either of the 2 lights and continue into shopping center… We are meeting in the parking lot…

From RT 70 Frederick Area:
Get off RT 70 at Exit 68 which is RT 27 Mt. Airy exit… At the light at the end of the exit ramp turn left on RT 27 and continue to the 2nd light… You will see STARBUCKS on the left… Turn left at either of the 2 lights and continue into shopping center… We are meeting in the parking lot…

From RT 70 Baltimore Area:
Get off RT 70 at Exit 68 which is RT 27 Mt. Airy exit… At the light at the end of the exit ramp turn right on RT 27 and continue to the next light… You will see STARBUCKS on the left… Turn left at either of the 2 lights and continue into shopping center… We are meeting in the parking lot…

Doh! You would do this right when I've committed to another cruise. We are also heading up to the Cozy Inn for lunch. If our plans fall through I will be there.

 

Gonna miss this one. I'm moving the rollerskate down to the Knoxville house for the winter friday. Will be burning up the roads down there all weekend long though.

Well unfortunately someone made a turn without keeping the person behind them in sight so a group of us missed that turn. The guy in the Boxster behind me must have known the route since he disappeared from behind along with the rest of the group. I sat there waiting for him on the wrong road for several minutes wondering if there was a wreck or a leo. Turns out I was just in the wrong place. Too bad, it was shaping up to be a good run.
