Extremely strict parking at my new condo - help
I recently moved out of a townhouse to a condo in Reston, much closer to work and in a nice area. However, the condiminium association is horrendously strict with parking. Only 1 parking permit is allowed per licensed driver per household. I live by myself, so I am only allowed to have 1 parking permit, even though I have 3 cars.
When I first moved there two of my cars were towed right away even though they were parked in visitor spots. Upon further investigation this condo association requires permits even for visitor spots!
What sucks even more is the people that issue permits are all volunteers, no one is staffed at the admin office here. I have no numbers to call, only a email alias I can email. And guess what, they take FOREVER to respond to inquiries. I submitted my app for parking permits on Monday, and only just heard back from them.
Does anyone have any ideas? I think it's completely ridiculous. I've tried complaining to the property managers but they said they do not handle parking. Is there a higher authority I can notify? What do these people expect me to do with my 2 other cars? There is no other parking near me in a 10 mile radius where I wouldn't be towed. How can they honestly expect a person to only own 1 car (I asked them that today, waiting on a response).
I guess my only other option is to break my lease and move. Which I would feel bad about because I had 3 of my friends break their backs helping me move in in 95+ degree weather.

We had this issue when we lived in Lorton, the complex decided to create a parking rule and we were screwed. I got into a fight with some woman who walked in front of our moving vehicles to save the spot for her. After that I said screw it nothing is worth that kind of stress and bought a house in Dale City. Sure the commute could be better but we got the house super cheap and we can have as many cars as we want. If this was not explained in your lease, you may be able to break it without penalties

I don't think you'll get away at a community with 3 cars per one unit, especially a small unit. It is common to have 1 parking space per 1 BR, 2 parking space for 2 BR in condo or apartment complex.
Your choices are either
offsite storage
sell 1 or 2 cars
move to a house or complex with lots of street parking
get a 2 or 3 BR unit

In the condo I was in we were allowed to rent out our spots. We didn't have a car at the time so it was some extra cash in our pocket.
We were also allowed to sell the parking spots to someone else (who lived in the building). Not sure this would be viable if you rent.
These might be two options for you to explore.
