I couldnt agree with you more, that track is oustanding! It certainly separates the men from the boys! I am going to the FATT on oct 9th (saturday) at Shenandoah too.

Berk - What would be the per person cost for Shenandoah?

I wouldn't mind doing Shenandoah but, for those who have not been on a track it can be pretty intense and I wouldn't recomend they go out without an instructor. For those who are really interested in this, we should meet and have a discussion on how things should go ie: Have a signed Tech inspection on all cars, run group experience etc.. Just my .02.

There is also the question about instructor availability. Who is qualified to instruct. I know my way around a track but, I have ridden shotgun with others on the track and I can tell you that driving and riding are very different. I don't have the stomach for sitting in the passengers seat. lol

I agree. Safety is my number one concern for all. Shenandoah is very technical and we probably will have a fairly rich difference in experience level. As for non-licensed instructors, it's at their own risk so we need to be careful. Tech Inspection is a must. We can get IMA I'm sure to do that, run groups need to be defined, etc. I really want to set up an interested party meeting that everyone going MUST attend. We will discuss what to do and COLLECT the money that night.

Let me know when guys. It can even be over Coffee, Lunch or Dinner. I think 2 hours maximum to get it all done. Thanks.

Berk.

Valid point, Chris. I just spoke to a qualified instructor about this. We need to start with BSR, Summit's in house guys, since its a weekday event. Then we hit both SCCA and NASA forums to find the rest. My friend says he'll help me with this. We need to nail the day and how many instructors are needed ASAP. I am on my way to VIR as I type so I am out of pocket until mid day Sunday to meet up and help if you need it.

Yes - we need help. Unfortunately Scott, remember, those instructors are not free. I've spoken to one, and those guys expect payment as well. So, at that point, it would start making more sense for a bunch of us to lock out a BSR day (but that would be like 80 cars I'm guessing right)? Unless these instructors are okay with paying to go and/or doing it for free.

Have fun at VIR.

Hey Berk, some of these guys will do it for track time rather than payment. With an all day event, they could see some generous time and not have to pay out for many. The advanced group would not need them. Only the novice and a few intermediates will be necessary.

Scott - Makes sense. We'd have to share this with a lot of people to have controls. Would they be willing to pay some form of fee to help contribute towards the rental? We can talk this through.

Berk,

Give me a call when you can, just got back from the west coast. No need to guess on all this. I can lay it all out. \

As I said, I can get a few of my fellow BSR instructors to come out, but they won't be very interested in taking a day off from their respective paying jobs to get free track time. We get plenty of track time

Your best bet may be to bring everyone to a FATT. We already have everything setup with instructors, insurance, etc.

FATT gives each driver 4 on track sessions of 20 minutes.

I have another idea for you if we keep it to only 10 cars (no more due to insurance)

I'll stay attached to this string to see how it plays out. I don't know if I will even have a car to run on the track!
