So.....I continued after this thread to do yet more research for tint. I was also checking out people for clear bras. In my search for that and find a place to get that done I found a tinter. I found Proform in Ellicott City..aka Maryland Performance. Rob will do the new nano fusion clear bra on my car next month. Full front and behind all wheels for complete protection. Today however I had his tinter do the 40% ceramic tint to the vette today. It looks AWESOME! I highly recommend rob..his tinter and ceramic tint!

Also be tinting all lights...except headlights...and perhaps wrapping the halo in black!

I'd like to see your tint. Since my last posting I learned a lil more about the tint materials different shops use. A group that tints windows on houses I do schooled me on the different types out there. They also have a auto tinting division called LA Tint. Reason I want to see is, my tint that is only 4 years old on the P is looking filmy and 'dusty'. I was told it's because of the actual material and not the installation.

edit: I have also never used anything but warm water to clean the film.

No problem Scott! My morning is booked tomorrow..at least 9 to 11ish...I might be out early afternoon depending on weather..and wind. Or sometime next weekend I'll be out..Saturday morning/early afternoon is booked but, later afternoon or Sunday. The following weekend, first weekend in March, I'll be outta of town...but, then all of March is wide open..and hopefully nice weather!

It's pretty awesome stuff. Looks exactly like the tint on the back windows of SUV's.. just like factory....I only did 40% to keep it legal but, you could probably do darker if you like. Looks really good on the red car with black interior. I'll probably tint the tails and side markers.

He told me I could use windex and no special stuff needed.

Nice thread...I've also used National Tint and glass for a few cars and they did a good job, had to come back once to get rid of some bublles and get the windshield strip redone....good service and good work. I used one place called Solar Shield I think in Laurel, Carlos over there did a nice job but I ended up getting the windsheild strip redone over at a place called HalStar Tinting over in Laurel off Contee and Rt. 1....they nailed it, perfect!

As far as type of film what do you guys recommend? I've heard Hooper Optik was really good..? Don't really know what else is great out there...?

I've also heard good things about LA tint in VA...would like to try them out sometime...

Ceramic all the way. Looks good...last long! It looks just like factory tint...without the metalic look. Think SUV back windows that are dark tinted.

It's actually Huber Optik...and the other one Llumar. I have the Llumar. Supposedly the only difference is the Huber Optik is more expensive. Your paying for the name..so I hear. At any rate I think the guys at
PROFORM PROTECTIVE FILMS are great. Actually it is the one guy Rob who does the clear bra and he has another guy, Tim, come in to do the tint. Tim is great..knows his stuff and will answer all your questions. He is super fast too. I checked the tint out last night and it looks good. I'll check it again in a few days.... but so far so good. They said any issues just call...

Let me know if you want more info on these guys.

They, the contact I provided, is actually Rob. He owns the company and does the clear bra install. The nano fusion only...I believe he has the other clear bra stuff but, he showed me a roll that had never seen the light of day and was a year old. It was yellowing on the roll. He can discuss all the films with you...but, nano fusion is the way to go for a clear bra. Film has only been out about a year.

Tint is done by a guy named Tim that Rob has come into his shop. He can do Ceramic or the less expesive normal tint.

Just let Rob know it is the guy with the red vette. I'm due back thier on March 17th to do clear bra, tinted lights and blacked out halo.

Can't wait!!

The work is awesome!
