Traded in my 996 yesterday.....

So I finally made the decision. With my daughter on the way in the next few weeks I decided to trade in my 996 C4. It was my first Porsche and I owned her for 3.5 years. I know I want a 997 turbo so there is was no point keeping her. For now, I traded the 996 for a 2006 BMW M5.
It made a lot of sense for us because now we can drive all 3 of our cars regardless of who we go or where we go. With my 996, I couldn't say that.
Here are a couple of shots until I take my own.

It seems to me that Porsche & BMW go hand in hand, Porsche owners & BMW owners seem to be intertwined..once you get one, if you change its usually to the other!

Thanks guys, I really do like the car. From what I can tell so far it has aftermarket wheels, some sort of exhaust system and an iPod interface. I need to look into it further to see if there is any additional work done. I did find the car online last night so I am going to try and find the previous owner so I can ask some questions. I bought it from a dealership not a private owner.

I had an E36 M3 and loved it. I traded it in on my Audi S4 in 2006. I love German cars as a whole so whether it is a BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, or VW I am a happy camper.

I just sold my 2001.5 S4 and bouoght a 996tt. Of course my kids are 16 and 14 and we have three other four door vehicles.

I loved my S4. It was a AWE Stage III with other goodies. Have you done anything to your S4?

I love my S4 as well which is why it isn't going anywhere. Yeah it has basic mods like:
APR chip, ARP full turbo back exhaust, APR bi-pipe, KW-V1s, StopTech 355MM BBK, 18X8 BBS REs, RS4 clutch, rebuilt tranny from Advanced Automation and some other stuff.
I will get another Porsche in the future but for now the M5 is a better option for us. I was a little bored with my 996 because I do want the turbo and I like the 997 much better now that I have spent time around them.

So your S4 is still running the stock KO3 turbos? How many miles. I put 142K on my S4 and loved every mile.

Yeah, stocks unless the original owner replaced them. I bought the car with 37K on it and it now has 103K.
I love the car. The transmission and clutch are being installed this week so I can't wait to get it back. It has been going since the middle of September

Wow 103K on the stock turbo's? Unreal. Mine blew at 68K and I felt fortunate.

Never had any issues with the transmission and I was on my third clutch when I sold mine.

If the KO3's were replaced with KO4's (or something similair) You'd know it. Since mid-sept. Sounds about right for a B5 S4.

You might be able to find the owner on the m5board.com. Great resource for M cars.

Hey TMAC, congratulations. I sold my 996 last year and was trying to find the right 996TT to replace it. Long story short I ran out of time and decided to get the M5 instead. They're nice cars. PM me if you want my impressions.
