NOVA Sports Car Club Spring Fling Cruise
UPDATE: We are still on for tomorrow morning and will be departing at the same time advertised. The escorted portion of cruise will end at RT66, I have spoken with Arlington PD this evening and all is well. They have asked that any people who are coming to observe, take pictures, etc. that they do not stand in the roadway or on the bike path adjacent to the garage when vehicles are leaving. The bridge and surrounding walk ways provide plenty of space so this should not be a problem. Look forward to seeing everyone in the morning.
We would like to invite you to join the NOVA Sports Car Club on the Spring Fling March 19th Wine Country Cruise! This cruise was designed to offer some of the best roads to drive in Virginia and some fun and interesting stops along the way. This is a perfect cruise if you want to bring the spouse, girl friend, or significant other, as standing in parking lots admiring our other women (cars) does little for our primary ones.
The cruise will meet and leave from Arlington County, Va., N 15th street and N Quincy Street parking structure. The meet time is 9am with a pull out time of 10:30am. The Arlington County Police Department will escort the group out of Arlington to the RT 66 exit on Fairfax drive. We are on our own from there.
The Route will take us up RT 66 west to RT17 south. We then take RT17 to RT 211 west through Warrenton and up the mountain. First stop Narmada Winery. 1 hour stop at winery and then back on RT 211 west to RT 340 north. RT 340 winds us along the base of skyline drive and lets out at the town of Front Royal. We will then get off RT 340 and back on to RT 66 east for the final stop at Barrel Oak Winery. Barrel Oak has a great deck with food and out door fire tables and great view. Should make for a very nice cruise and very good day.
All are welcome with the same stipulation as the C&C College Park event, no econo box hot rods with giant wings please. The venues where we are stopping would be less than happy. This is not a race or official rally and no fees are required to attend. Any and all traffic infractions are the sole responsibility of the driver or vehicle owner and in no way reflect on NOVA Sports Car club, its members or event organizers.
We hope to see you all and your beautiful cars come out to play. Please send me a pm or email at wegant@arlingtonva.us to RSVP at least one week in advance of event. Sendemail title as Spring Fling. Rain date March 26th.
Thanks,
Warren

If I don't have to work and it isn't snowing and salt messed, I'm in!!!
I'll even try not to get a speed on rt 211 this time. Stupid heavy patrol with a ridiculous 55 mph limit. COUNTY CASH COW!!

I agree, beautiful road but sometimes State police heavy. We will all have to tread lightly until RT340. Not as bad as 66 or 211.

Great idea Warren!

sounds like a nice drive...do you have a meetup place for MD folks so we can either join up with you guys at the starting point or maybe somewhere on 66 as you move out from Arlington towards Warrenton?
#7
Not at this time, but if you have a spot in mind that the Md guy's like to gather that would be great. I have no problem with doing a stop in Warrenton if people can't make it to Arlington Start Point. Let me know and we can work something out.

I dunno if there is enough interest here from the MD guys I haven't seen any except for me post on this thread...If people were interested we could meet up somewhere in MD then go over to a second rendesvous point off 66 like right off the Nutley St exit or Dulles Expo Center or something...and meet up with the rest of the bunch

Please feel free. It would be great to see some 928's.

I will try it seems like a fun run...I guess that you will post a final time before the event to confirm. If at that time I can make it I will just get your info and either meet up with you guys in Arlington or somewhere on 66 westbound coming out from Tysons...hope that I have a clear afternoon to come out for this seems like a nice route and some good folks

A friend of mine reading the info for the Spring Fling event told me that I needed to clarify that this was not just a cruise for those of us with girl friends, wives, or assorted ball and chain but for whoever would like to run it. Sorry, after I read it I think he was right, did not mean to give that impression
Hope this clears up any mis-understandings, hope to see everyone.
