Charity Car Show - Ashburn, VA: Saturday, 08/20/11, Noon - 3:30PM
Apologies - This is a duplicate post. I missed Chris's earlier post about Ryan's Car Show...
Sorry for the late notice - I just got a note from a friend, regarding a charity car show in Ashburn, VA this Saturday, 08/20/11, starting at Noon. It's sponsored by the Porsche Club, but other cars are welcome. Sounds like a good cause. --Bob Collum
"Greetings PCA Potomac,
We would like to invite you to a charity car show for a great cause with activities for the entire family and not just a car show.
Please join us at the Broadlands Village Center for:
Ryan Diviney Day
Saturday August 20, 2011 at 12pm
43150 Broadlands Center Plaza, Ashburn, VA
Exit #5 off of the Greenway
Entry fee for entering your car in the car show is a $10 donation (or more if you want). There is no admission charge.
We are hoping to make this event as big as possible so please invite all your friends and bring any car you possibly can. This will be a people’s choice award with Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place donated by some of the local sponsors. Parking for the show will be in a paved parking lot and the winners will be announced around 3:30pm.
In addition to the car show there will be a wide variety of events for everyone regardless of age. Safeway will have a wine tasting tent with cheese & *******s. The kids can jump on the moon bounces, grab a snow cone or cotton candy. They can even swing by the carnival games to win fun prizes!
This event is for the benefit of Ryan Diviney, a young man from Ashburn, Virginia. Ryan was brutally beaten on November 7, 2009. He has been in a coma since. His father, Ken, provides round the clock care for Ryan via physical, inhalation, infrared, and many other therapies. Ryan’s progress has been followed by thousands. Ryan’s medical bills, many of which are not covered by insurance, are astronomical. We hope to pull together to help this family. For more information on this cause please visit his father’s blog Ryan's Rally: We Got This http://ryansrally.org/events/
We hope to see many of you out there!"
FYI, there's a good NY pizza place (Sal's NY Pizza- Sal is from Brooklyn) and a decent wine bar/restaurant (Parallel Wine Bistro) in that shopping center, along with some chains (Starbucks and Bonefish), a Mediterranean restaurant, a Mexican restaurant a steakhouse and an ice cream shop.
