Drive in DC, Got A Ticket? Pay It Or Else! (MD & VA Residents You Too)
#16
About 2 years ago I was caught by one of the camera's on one of the highways circling WDC - a sudden 35MPH zone on a 3 lane freeway that had been 55MPH. They tagged me for 47MPH, and about a $125 fine. I paid - and it never showed up on NJ records nor on my insurance.
I went to the website for the cameras in WDC and found they were quite proud of them - not for improving safety (not a single WORD said about safety) - but because of the revenue generated. At that point - about 6 months into the year - the cameras had made then $35,000,000.
I will never visit, drive or do anything involving WDC again. Ever. I do know how to hold a grudge.

I avoid driving in DC as much as I could, money is more a concern for them over actual safety. I had a recent run in with a rookie cop that threatened to give me a ticket for having my fog lights on because there wasn't any fog out.
