****Clear Bra installaton. Shop Review Auto Armour Film & Finishes. Columbia, MD****

Been a long time member but hardly post. Recently pick up a brand new 2013 GMG GTR and just wanted to share my experience with you fellow members here with the installation of my clear bra. I had it installed last week and had a few problem areas on the installation. Depending on how the owner decides to fix my problems this week, I'll have a full update and my detail description with my experience there.

While your awaiting the resolution, can you tell me if you had a 'computer laser cut kit' installed? I did, and it was nowhere near the coverage I had expected.

Scott,

I had the full front end clip done, a pillar, rocker, both front doors, roof, partial bumper done. Where did you get yours done?

Well, that's what I read on all the reviews. The guy has not return my phone call or emails. I am going to give him the benefit out doubt before I put him on the spot. I dropped my car off when it had 140 miles on the clock and my door looks like it has a ding or it's the imperfection on the film. Not to mention all the bubbles and water gather in some panels cover with the film where he mentioned it will be gone in a few days. It's been a week now and it's still there.

Won't return phone calls or emails? Put on the spot? We exchanged multiple texts yesterday = Wed afternoon. LOL. I told you I won't be back in my shop until Fri. We travel out of state a lot. What do you want me to do? You emailed me last yesterday at 2PM sending a picture as I asked you to. I was working off site until 2AM yesterday.

We were in my shop talking for over an hour while we fished your car and you were scouring over it and never mentioned anything about a door imperfection. I told you then and I'm telling you now if there are any issues with the film we will fix it. It is a very difficult product to work with and there can be bits of residual moisture after installations.

When you get to the point of perfection working with these types of film materials it does get to the point where people will think "can I tell at all in any way whatsoever, exposed edges, texture etc. that there is a layer of protective film on top of my paint. ".... and thats the level we install these products to so it comes with the territory.

But startring a post on a public forum saying I don't return your calls or emails when we were communicating less than 24 hours ago and I told you I'd be available all day Fri. is really bizarre.... but not a first and I'm sure not the last..... but that goes with the territory too. We're going to do full front end wraps on Ferraris in PA all day. Have a nice day and hope to see you Fri.
You can text. call or email me anytime. I get them all all day long. LOL

He got his customer service training from either bank of america or verizon. Laser cut and it covers much less than I had hoped for. The end product (after 4 visits and multiple no shows, never arrived as scheduled) still looks like ***!

Soon I will go to a professional to remove the crap work and get somoen who can do professional work.

Hopefully mmdrx7 will post some pictures after we meet back up to address his issue, but I'm telling you even in person (pictures really can't even tell half the story of how quality a clear-bra install is esp. when wrapping whole panels) you can't tell there is film on the car at all unless you look very very closely and half know what your looking at and about paint finishes etc. And that particular GTR car pretty much the whole car is wrapped excepting some of rear quarters and rear bumper panel.

People are usually mezmorized by what we can do with these films, and that includes people who have lots of experience over the years seeing them installed by different people i.e. staff at luxury and exotic dealerships. And trust me turning out the close-to-flawless install on whole front wraps isn't easy at all, not to mention doing it over and over and over again all day long.

But I do understand the expectation and that goes with the territory and we actually like and benefit from it, setting the bar as high as we do is our built-in our barrier to entry.... and our worse nightmare sometimes LOL.

And it can be a thankless task. A lot of times we are the ones that have to break the news to new owners that there paint isn't perfect - not saying thats the case here with this GTR - but it happens ALL the time, on all kinds of cars up to the most elite brands.... "oh but the car is brand new", yes but its a multi-thousand-pound peice of machinery with tens of square feet of highly glossed painted surfaces that move down road at 100 mph.... they aren't always perfect. So you just have to deal with it and try to be educational and helpful to people.

Trust me he will be happy.

Cliff,

Did I say I'll give you the benefit of doubt? YES.. Did I mentioned something about the door when we are outside? YES. I had someone else there (Dwayne) that can proof I asked you. But I am not going to go there with he said she said conversation.

The last text I've exchange with you was "So can I come by Friday Morning", and you never reply back to me. I don't assume you have all day Friday to see customers and you have things to do as well. I've indicated right off the bat that I'll write a full review of my experience with you when everything is said and done. Good or bad. Did I come out and said you did a shi*** job and not back up your work. NO. All I wanted was a easy confirmation from you saying come by Friday and I'll take care of it. THATS ALL!!! I don't think that's too much to ask for from any previous customer that can potentially bring you more people. I understand you wrap cars that is on upwards of $500k and my $100k car might not seem that important to you but it is to me. I've heard nothing but great things about you hence that's why I had you do my car instead of proshield in VA. I'll see you tomorrow.

Ok cool. And trust me your car is very important to us. We def. don't get hung up on that "this isn't a Veyron like we were working on last week so just blow through it".

Last bit of personal communique on forum for me here - but I don't recall talking about door, which doesn't mean we didn't (you've seen I'm running a million miles a min. all day doing a mill. different things, i dont remeber everything) but whatever it is - even if its something we didn't do and whatever it takes we will fix it.

I got impression from our last email that we were set to meet up tmrw = Fri. I will be at shop all day and you are my shining star priority .... SMILE!!

I should become a sponsor here so I can unabashedly post some of the things we work on. We get to do some really cool stuff. Yesterday and late late into last night we were doing about half-the-whole-car clear bra on a Heffner Twin Turbo "Heritage" (Gulf retro colors) Ford GT and the installation of a full replica LeMans GT-40 vinyl graphics package on it. It looks very very cool and the guy is stoked and bringing it to Katie's Sat.... if you're there you won't miss it trust me. And like does happen sometimes..... rarely but sometimes..... on that car there is a very small film imperfection on one of the whole fenders (which are huge) that I noticied and pointed out that bugs the sh-t out of me and stops it from being that perfect-perfect job so even though the owner who is a pretty perfectionist type son of gun said "I'm not worried about that little mark, I can only see it in a certain light at a very certain angle and then just barely" we will probably be going back and redoing that fender at a multi-hundred-$ cost to me but that is just the way it is.

Cliff,

I appreciate you taking the high ground on this. To me, what's more important to any talent/service is how the follow up on problem is, and not just on the installation itself. I'll keep everyone posted as I get the film fix tomorrow. Thanks.

Scott...I just got my car done and it's covered top to bottom on the front....If you want you can check it out,...and I'll provide you the contact information for my person. I'd post it but, I don't want to over step on the forums. Trust me...you would be happy with the work and coverage.

I know I'm completely satisfied with it....

I don't want to go off topic here and I haven't posted a review on 6speed until now. I have used Cliff with my full car wrap last year and the job came out perfect. Most people are amazed with the work considering clear matte wrap was much harder to work with than vinyl wrap.

Sometimes things take a little longer than expected but that's the way it is, especially when you shoot for perfection. In my case, it was a full car wrap and small stuff such as removing grills, badges, etc. to make it perfect, takes time.

He was always willing to do follow-up when something needed touch up at no charge and he has always been available. Over 1 year passed and he still calls at least monthly to make sure things are ok.

He also has direct connection with 3M corporate. He used 3M clear matte wrap on my car which was a new product & wasn't fully available yet.

I hope things get settled soon and best of luck.

I added few pictures when the car was at his shop since i have never posted any before. (I hope you don't mind them)
