458 Italia crash on 495 this morning - possibly coming from Katie's

I hope they're ok. RIP to that 458. It's junk for sure.
The time, location, severity, and fact it was single car accident really makes me believe it was due to high speed and/or reckless driving. I hope to hear differently but all the signs would seem to point to that.

That looks like the possible owner, David, leaning against the median. He came up to Brusters a few weeks back and that definitely looks like him. I hope so. Hopefully, he will chime in whether it was him, or if he knows he it may be.

Were there two people in the car? If you look at the video by RealMCR12 the person pulling into the lot has a long sleeve shirt on. Looks like the guy standing next to the police car has a similar shirt on. Would be good to hear he(they) made it out ok. The crash is horrible.

The only thing I'd point out is that the person in the picture is wearing a gray T-shirt. The driver in Realmcr's video was wearing a plaid long sleeve shirt. Not inferring anything, just wanted to note that detail.

Absolutely right Scott. I just went back and watched the video from Bruster's and it's definitely the same car that was filmed at Katie's.

Wow! I am so sorry to see this. I hope occupants are okay. I would be interested to hear what happened...I imagine this happened after the car and driver left katies and was heading home, if it's the same one from brewster that Scott is talking about hope be chimes in and confirms he is okay. When something like this happens in our enthusiast community it effects us all. Truly a travesty and hope that incidents like this can teach us all to be a bit safer, lots of fast cars out there, and we all drive enthusiastically at times, public roads can be dangerous just a ton more factors that can go wrong, cut off by a minivan jutting into the fast lane, oncoming traffic crossing over, someone not looking at an intersection etc... one of the reasons I feel much safer on a circuit even at much higher speeds.

wow--i spoke to him awhile that night--said he loved my car because it was his alma mater--u of michigan--colors. real nice guy-- has there been any confirmation that his son was in the car? we were talking that night about how our kids were away at summer camp.

I reached out to him on facebook, but nothing yet. Proly letting the dust settle and insurance group do their thing before hitting the scene again. As little info as he puts out there is best for his case. Good luck, David.

saw this over on fchat--
"No one died. There was no passenger. The driver was not transported to the hospital and was fine. He tried to change lanes to quickly after exiting Rt193 and struck a "water" tank barrier, went air-born, flipped 2 or 3x and landed on the median divider.
This is from my buddies in the department on the scene of the accident."
as good of news that could come out of the situation i guess--i was thinking to myself.... why would he be hanging out at the scene if in fact his son had been injured and taken to a hospital....

Good news that no injuries on the scene. Where is Rt193? what water tank barrier? they need to look at this more carefully, If it's something obstructive then they should move that bollard, or allow more space for safe lane change. Ferrari 458 should not be flipping twice and landing on jersey barriers, either there is more to this that we don't know or there are some seriously misplaced traffic guide bollards....just imagine if this were a soccer mom on her cell phone with a car full of kids trying to change lanes quickly (as they often do) in a caravan with crappy tires, thin brakes, over 150K miles, and a high center of graveity!
