IPD Plenum for Cayman S 987

Does anybody locally have an IPD plenum installed? I'm looking into getting this and just wanted to see what people who have this mod think of it. From doing research here and on planet 9 it looks like a good bang for the buck.

I installed the RSS IPD plenum back in 2008 in the 996.
Install was fairly straightforward, but in terms of power, particularly on a naturally aspirated engine the increase was perhaps marginal, although the **** dyno spoke differently.

RSS are good people, there's a long thread under the 996 section, might want to search and read up.

Yeah I have been reading up on it. I would be doing that with the BBI Pullies and a re custom dyno tune from my friend.

Paul it is outside of drop in filter, exhaust, custom dyno tune, and its lowered now, but other than that its stock.

Sunir since I am still learning my way around the Porsche what do you mean by the slippery slope of Porsche modding?

My tuner is Frank Smith of Tech Tuning who has been custom dyno tuning cars for 22 years. Probably one of the best tuners I have come across. With his tune I am making quite a bit more power than most Cayman S's.

Porsche engines are very responsive to mods, means that once you start modding, you keep going until bank accoung = drained

You'll have to introduce me to Frank, does he have a lot of experience in tuning Porsches, 3.6 L Metzger engines?

It's a slippery slide with any car, not just Porsche.
Honestly speaking, your throwing money down the drain if your trying to get 'decent' power out of a NA engine with just bolt-ons. If your tuning a NA engine I doubt you will see kick in the **** gains, sure it will smooth out the curve...

Sunir, since the 2 has turbo's the sky is the limit for you - but then remember if your on stock internals be very careful ;-)

If you want 'real' power then open up the guts and start upgrading there, or head towards FI.

My 2 cents worth... been there done that...

He tuned mine on a dyno dynamics which reads lower than a dynojet. I'm currently making 310 whp with just an agency power axelback and drop in filter.

Yeah I know. I love the NA motors though. I had the E90 335 before and making power on that was super easy as it was turboed obviously. I work for a friend who is a vendor on E90 post and M3 post part time so I don't really pay for my parts, this is how I am able to support my modding habit.
