Discovered a FANTASTIC Machine/Welding Shop in DC Area (Custom Secrets & Fabrication)
Guys,
So I have been on a mission to find someone around this area that can take my metal/exhaust ideas and put them into action - however, haven't really been able to find anyone. I did come across MBS (Mandrel Bent Solutions) but they appeared to be very expensive even for the simplest jobs (I am sure they do great work - just not in my budget). I decided to look around Craigslist and being very skeptical went out to meet a few guys to look at what they have to offer - but - everyone was literally a joke.
Then I came across this guy: Custom Secrets & Fabrications
Address: 706 N East Street, Frederick MD 21701
Phone: (240)793-2602
Contact: Doug Ward (Owner/Fabrication Specialist)
I took off the two mufflers off my 996 and took it to him to get the "Fister D" mod done. I figured this was a fair "test" job. Doug took them in - told me everything and more I needed to know about mufflers, welding, metals, fabrication, etc etc.... I think my head was spinning at one point in time because of the amount of information he told me. He also recommended different ways of approaching the mod (i.e. best ways of running the pipe, pipe diameter, and other mods that I may wish to consider for the mufflers). After this the man went to work. Took him a simple two hours to turn these back around to me - but the mufflers look absolutely fantastic! He put in some stainless steel pipe that he bent specifically to my mufflers. He took the time to make sure both of the mufflers are done IDENTICALLY the same. Lastly, he double welded each of the seams. End result for my "Fister D" muffler mod - I couldn't be happier! He put in some 2.25inch pipe as he thought it would sound best - and they sound amazing Oh! and this cost me 1/3 of what it would of cost if I sent it to FisterD - that is a few bucks over $100 including tax
Here are some shots of the mufflers from my 2000 Carrera 3.4L that he worked on:
However, it doesn't end there --- We spent a good two hours before and after the project discussing his background. He showed me around his shop and showed me some of the impressive projects he has been keeping busy with. This guy has been doing this stuff for years upon years. He's got all kinds of special equipment including benders, drills, and machine equipment that I have never even seen in my life. Hi background is also quite impressive - not only does he work on cars, motorcycle (and has a pocket bike with nitrous on it ) but he also does beams for high-rise buildings, lifts (he built a few of his own cranes and lifts in his shop).
He does a lot of other automotive stuff as well that I saw and was impressed by:
1. Supercharger and turbo kits (He's got a Trailblazer SS pushing a tad over 600HP that's supercharged and built)
2. Engine builds
3. Powdercoating
4. Fiberglass and body work (The fiberglass on that blazer is from 4 different kits that he is molding together)
5. Regular automotive maintenance (Oil, brakes, timing, etc.)
6. Transmissions
Currently he is working on a Chevy Blazer dragster for which he fabricated 100% of the tube chassis himself. Also he's working on a full cage for a Camaro which unlike all other cages will be NHRA legal while still allowing for 4 passenger seating!
In any sense - I'll be taking a ton more stuff up to Doug to do. I am looking at getting a roll bar for my 911 (tequipment like: already discussed it with him and he can do it easy for 1/2 the price of the tequipment bar), Bypass pipes for cats on the Cayenne, and probably a full exhaust for the CL600.
I thought to share my great find! Doug and myself connected very well. He's trying to reach out to the automotive community however is not involved with forums. I told him this is pretty key and he said he'll hook anyone up that comes down to him and drops my name (Paul)
Hope this is helpful!
Kind Regards,
Paul

Guys - sorry I have been so bad about getting the clip up. I will get it done! That is a promise
Sunir - the FisterD mod is essentially an after market PSE mod.
It took him about 2 hours. I dropped them off and then picked them up.
This guy is a beast. He will be doing some cat bypass pipes for me on the cayenne soon as well as a full exhaust on the cl.

He's done many of my friends' cars including my friends 360 spyder, which sounds even more incredible now.
