My own experience is that Chicago does a really good job cleaning up the streets (burbs too). Unless you are driving in a bad snowstorm, it's not that bad. Is your porsche a C4? If so, even better!

 

Yes, my car is 4WD. Not really sure how much this will help, if any, given the limitation of the summer tires.

 

call me crazy, but i've never put on snow tires. i have driven in the winter with both my prior rides (a Carrerra and a C4). no doubt, the 4 wheel drive was day and night, but i managed to get around with both, as long as the streets were cleaned up. i would no put the winter tires if you have another ride at home. there will be plenty of days in the winter were you will be able to just drive your car when streets are cleared. jmo.

 

That's good news indeed. I'm just too lazy to get wheels/tires for three cars, so the DD will get it, but porsche will stay on the summer tires.
