996 Turbo ownership in Wichita, KS?
I have just been approached with a job opportunity that would see me relocate from Southern California to Wichita, Kansas if I can come to an agreement with the company.
I am a bit ashamed to admit that I know practically nothing about Kansas and do not know anyone there.
Like any bona fide car guy, instead of checking out apartments and other aspects of social life, I am more worried about whether there are good indie Porsche shops or alternatively, if the local Porsche dealership can be trusted.
Can anyone shed some light on the car scene and while you are at it, maybe the quality of life in Wichita? Thanks in advance!

Hey Rudy. I don't know much about Wichita (living in Kansas City), but if you end up moving to our state, it may be worth a drive to KC to have Karl Wilen work on your car. Here's his blog: http://docwilenracing.wordpress.com/ It's about a 3 hour drive from Wichita to KC, but in a TT, I'm sure you could cut that down to 2 hours.
Hope things work out for you in Wichita. Good luck.

Good luck with your investigations. I expect there to be a huge culture shock coming from southern CA to Wichita. It's a VERY conservative community with it's share of urban issues. The economy suffered a lot when the aircraft industry took a slide some years ago. Don't even think of moving there without a V1 or equivalent for the Porsche. The Kansas Highway Patrol takes no prisoners. Local law enforcement is equally strict. There are, however, plenty of long, open roads in rural Kansas As far as local interests / activities, I would predict that your Porsche will be your one and only hobby.
+1 for Karl. He definitely knows them inside & out. Porsches, that is.

I think the Wichita region PCA is a fairly active group as well. http://wic.pca.org/
Like the guys said, it is only a 3 hour drive up to KC (and you get the toll road for a good portion of it...weeeeeee!), and we are also a fairly active group. www.kcrpca.org
