I don't own one but I've put around 8k+ miles on one and let me tell you, for it's price, it handles. I've autocrossed it once as well, and the only thing I wish it had was a limited slip. Other than that it was great!

Enjoy the car, they're awesome!

Check out http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/ for all sorts of useful info.

I would suggest a larger rear sway bar, ditch the runflat tires and maybe go to 15% pulley. One of the funnest cars for the money.

Have fun with it.

If you live in an area infested with potholes, invest in a set of front strut tower reinforcement plates. They keep your strut towers from mushrooming & throwing your alignment out of whack.

If you have not done so already, check out the North American Motoring site for Mini: www.northamericanmotoring.com They have a forum for almost anything you can think of that's Mini related. We still love our '06-S, but I can't wait to get rid of the original tires. An upgrade from the Dunlop run-flat's to the Continentals makes all the difference, according to a guy in our local Mini club.

Yes original tires are horrendous just get rid of them. Best mod for the money is any pulley from 15%-19% however I would stick close to 15 or 17, that modd is like a chip mod for most turbo cars. Aero kit is a nice visual upgrade. Airboxes and ECU upgrade does minimal gain so don't bother unless you love to hear the intake sucking up air sound or unless you running a twincharge kit with over 300hp.

I have had about 5 mini's since 02 and they are wonderful cars. Had pretty much any combination you can name including a twincharge model (supercharged and turbocharged) that was putting down about 320 at the crank. That was a mini beast and would pull away from 996's and e46 m3's at least up to about 140 where it really hits a wind barrier. They all phenomenal handlers off the showroom and plenty of room for improvements. They are not the best riding cars but that aspect has been addressed by new model however they have grown larger and porkier and stepping further away from their name. I have never had any issues with anyone of them and they all ran reliably other than the twincharged 1 but that was software prob and not inherit design flaw.

Bang for the buck, you can't beat the Mini's. Very BMW like.

I have one... Slightly tweaked '07 R56. If you want to know about stance and performance, checkout www.motoringunderground.com. Some of the best looking Mini's in the world are on this site, and their owner's are more than happy to answer any questions you may have if asked politely.

Cheers,

Bradley

P.S. heres a pic of mine... Its a work in progress!
