Screaming MINI
Picked up a 2010 Cooper S at the very end of December - The car has close to 4k miles on it as of now, about 1,000 miles ago i installed a K&N Typhoon CAI system on the car
About 2 weeks ago, i took the car out and drove it hard, very fast and really pushing the car - And then, at a complete stop while idling, i would hear a hi-pitched screeching like sound coming from the engine bay - Next day started the car up, sound was gone
Last night, i took the car out, drove about 80 miles straight, no sound - Before i got home, i started driving very fast again and really pushing the car again, and the sound came back... So the sound only happens when i start really pushing the car, the sound is not present and goes away once the throttle is pushed, and after the car cools down the sound goes away
I have no idea if the CAI has anything to do with the sound, but just threw it out there, the sound seems to be coming from the turbo area and is a bit louder underneath the engine in the front...
Any ideas? Thanks,

Perhaps a vacuum hose somewhere or loose hose clamp on the CAI?
We had a 2008 Mini Cooper S with the same mod and I pushed it HARD (when my wife let me drive it ) and I never had that issue. The only thing I would get was a little whistle under WOT, though I believe that was a resonance issue with the CAI.

I put the OEM intake back on - gonna try it for a few days and see if the sound comes back - if it does, i can take it to the dealer worry free and have it fixed, if the sound does not come back... gotta sell the intake, i already feel the loss of power/sound - I hope the latter is not the case

What intake do you have? MINIs emmit a "blow off valve" like sound when you let off acceleration, could that be what you are referring to? It can only be heard when an open air intake is installed, if not the sound is too muffled to be heard.

Making a service appointment tomorrow...
