Wheel size for Track

I am looking to get a dedicated set of track wheels/tires for my 2006 Mini.

What is the best size for this purpose 17 or 18"? If you have a set for sale, please let me know.

16" is best for the track with the right size rubber in say, a Yokohama A048. Less rotating mass with a smaller rim = less paracitic drag on HP. The A048's stand up to the heat of CA and NV raceways. If you have a JCW brake kit I hear that you have to stay with the 17's. Eighteen inch rims are for show and not the right choice for the track. Pick up a copy of Grassroots Motorsports and learn more about how to set up your MINI!

Ditto what Danamax said...

I used to run 15s with 205/50, IMHO it was one of the best setups out there...smaller overall diameter means better acceleration and it handles fantastic too. Only real downside is, you're pretty much limited to stock brakes.

Supposedly you can get 16's that will clear JCW brakes (which I have)- I'm still on Stock Webspoke 17's but likely looking to upgrade to 16's and non-run flat tires.

Just need to figure out what to do about a spare...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Borbe...QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone have experience with Borbet wheels? This deal seems too good to be true.

$255 for 4 wheels?! Jeez, that is like 1 front tire for the 996tt.

What is largest size tire goes with 16 x 6.5 wheels for the Mini?
