997.2 Turbo, T minus 3 days delivery!!
Hello new friends.
I am very excited to drive home my new 2010 997.2 Turbo on Wednesday.
She's a Slate Grey metallic paint to sample with black interior, bone stock and 18,000 miles.
I will be the third owner.
I test drove a 2012 Turbo S at my local dealer, he insisted I drive it...I was just checking out a C2S for ****s and giggles while looking at a mini for stepdaughter..he said you gotta check this out, copied my license and away we went.
He started us in sport mode, on surface streets, past my buddies shops etc, all at 5k plusss rpm, then up the highway onramp... he said hang back til traffic clears and STOMP ON IT!
It blew my mind! ! ! I felt my brain hit the back of my skull, and my eyeballs followed. It really was mind boggling acceleration of which I've never felt before. We did a few more accelerations overtaking a handful of unsuspecting victims and I was in love...it ruined me.
I searched and decided to choose a non S, my reasons are I didn't want the center lock or ceramic brake(maybe I'm nuts) for the potential problems/failures/scheduled maintenance and replacement that many don't speak of, and costs for such as well as brake parts. There are also more wheel options with the 5 lug, and with my mild mods I'll be at 600 hp, which is more than the S...
I drove a 930 Turbo in the 80's in Germany, as a young teen with no license on the autobohn, and clearly its been in my blood ever since. I was lucky to have played a few years in club karting during that time also, so like many of us here, I have a need for speed...and with an almost 18 year old son who also likes to go fast, I'm trying hard to teach responsible enjoyment of the insane velocity these cars offer...so track time will be a must with this one.
I had a 91 C2 ten years ago and had to sell it after about 3 years of ownership and a pal sticking its rear into a tree, I always missed it. We had the repairs done at a good Porsche shop and I sold it soon after.
My sister had a 914 in college and on which I rallied a lot of miles on tearing up the roads in Pebble Beach during my highschool years, so much fun.
So if anyone is still reading, my plans for this new Turbo in my life are as follows:
ECU flash, exhaust, air filter, Y pipe and intercoolers from Softronic after I get used to the car a while.
Then I may change wheels~I really like the Forgeline RB3C concaves, and lower 'er a tiny bit.
So thanks for readin, if anyone made it this far, and any suggestions or experience to share are certainly welcome.

Congratulations! You are lucky to live near Laguna Seca...such an awesome track. Looking forward to trying that track potentially this summer with my 997.2 Turbo S with suspension upgrades (Ohlins R&T, end links, lower control arms, etc).
If are looking for some nice power mods for your 997.2, GIAC and Champion Motorsports have teamed up for a nice simple bolt on package for your car that will add 250 horsepower. Not even kidding. A few weeks ago my car did a 135.6mph 1/4 mile trap at a notoriously slow drag strip (stock turbo 997.2 record). Still drives like stock too...except you will need much better tires if you want to get the power to the ground. Here's my car this Saturday May 2, 2015 racing a Ferrari F12 from a roll at an Airstrip in SoCal:

Thank you, I will check out your suggestions for sure.
Wow that looks fast and fun, how do I find out about those type of events?
Yeah Laguna Seca is a fun track, I've never taken a high caliber car like the Turbo around it but have had some fun in smaller cars over the decades there.
I got to test drive my 91 c2 at Willow springs for a day many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed that.

Yes I brought her home Wednesday! Thank you for the welcomes and I look forward to gaining info and help from any that are willing with appreciation.
If anyone knows Bay Area roads to Santa Cruz, I got to rip up Highway 17 on my drive home... as expected it was amazing, like the proverbial "hot knife through butter". It was a lovely spirited and effortless journey, and I know there is room for tuning suspension and performance so in time I can't wait for that!
I "had" to drive her in the rain the next day, the kids needed to get home from school somehow right?
Anyways, I had to clean her up and will post some better photos soon as I can with a non cell phone camera.
It is interesting to try to spot the colour differences in the metallic grays, mine is Slate Gray, paint to sample, I'm still learning all the terminology, this is the nicest, fanciest, and fastest car I have ever owned and I am super stoked!
Thanks for inspirations.

Thank you.
Stock is great, but I would love to maximize the potential on er.
I definitely want to do an ECU flash or tune, an exhaust only a little louder than stock and more free flowing for better sound, better air filter, and mild lowering with springs and I keep seeing people upgrading sway bars and end links or something along those lines.
Much research to go still as I know there are lots of options and manufacturers.
Also I would like to add some concave type rims, sorta like a ten spoke similar to the Forgeline RB3C or like on
dsurovcik 's beautiful yellow turbo which are his own custom blend of finspeeds F10 and F11 wheel, his car sits so nice! I don't know how to copy someone else's post or I would add his pic from the official 997 turbo pic thread...

Those all sound great. If you ever need any assistance with any of the DIY work you do be sure to check out our tech articles. There is some good information in there in regards to basic maintenance and performance upgrades. Looking forward to see what you do with her! Cheers.
