Hello From a Current BMW Driver - 335i Content Inside
Hello all!
I'm curious how I'll look back on this post. My next car purchase is about six years out... so my research begins.
It is both sad and exciting at the same time. It's sad because I don't want to already look beyond what I'm currently driving and enjoying, yet exciting to think about the possibilites of what will be next.
I currently drive (and absolutely love) a 2013 BMW 335i Sport Line - 8-speed ZF auto/RWD. I've put on some M-Sport and M Performance parts and have it sitting exactly how I want it. Photos are at the end of the post.
I'm considering a wide range of cars. I'm trying to narrow it down a bit and so far have decided that two-seaters are out - as in the 718 Boxster/Cayman, Corvette, 911, are pretty much out of the question. My arrival at this decision is based on enjoyment in taking the family around in my car. Whether it is going to dinner or a long trip, I like being able to drive my car and not the 3-row-suv family car. We'll see if this decision stays this way.
This leads me to the Porsche forums since if the purchase would be happening today it would be for a Panamera GTS. Very unique car (almost a class of its own) that has a lot of the positives of a 911 yet allows me to tote the kids and gear around in comfort as well, which is important to me.
The timing works out well too - the 2nd-generatoin Panamera is being spied now and revealed at an auto show this year, so in six years a mid-cycle refresh GTS will be perfect. I doubt it is like clock work but if the 2nd-gen car becomes a 2018 car and the GTS follows two years later, then a 2022 GTS would be ideal.
We'll see. History will tell if this post is even close to what actually happens.

Welcome to 6Speed! Beautiful 335i. Hope you're able to pick up a Panamera in the near future. They truly are unique.
