GTR wins another Car and Driver review

But looses badly to the Viper ACR. Nissan GTR has another **** poor showing in the quarter mile. Also this puts into question how Car and Driver only managed a 2.01 around Buttonwillow when Road and Track achieved a 1:56.9. It seems like the early Nissan cars had far better performance, were the early ones ringers?

Car and Driver August Issue test

Track times from Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Configuration No. 13
2.7 miles.

Z06 2:01.7 @79.9 MPH
Viper ACR 1:55.7 @84.0 MPH
GTR 2:01.1 @80.3 MPH
GT2 1:59.7 @81.2 MPH

Z06 : 0-60 3.8, 1/4 11.9 @124
Viper : 0-60 3.4, 1/4 11.8 @126
GT2 : 0-60 3.7, 1/4 11.8 @121
GTR 01-60 4.1 1/4 12.6@111MPH.

Overall

GTR 203
GT2 194pts.
Viper ACR 185
Z06 177 pts.

How does it win? It is last and second to last in those categories. And man, they can't drive the ZO6 for ****. The GTR 1/4 mile time sucks even more....weird.

I agree about the vette, have a look at the trap speed.

I have no idea why it won, I guess the give extra points for the new kid on the block.

My guess is they looked at the performance, then it caught up in terms of everyday drivability, practicality, etc...

Most of those better times were achieved with early production cars or test cars. The more recent cars which are closer to the production versions hasnt fared all that well.

Keep heat soak in mind for the GTR (may explain the GT2 slow times too) as BW this time of year is about 115 degrees or so, it's frick'n desert! Heat soak is a ***** for efficiency.

It is just really hot out right now, did they say what the temp was out during the test? Not hard to believe cars testing in the middle of the summer would up slower numbers.

Not over a half second and 10+ mph in the 1/4 for the GTR.

The GT2 was my unicorn, and I would’ve bet the farm that the GT2 would have handed the competition their respective asses in this comparison. Perhaps I should stop betting on Porsche. Sad day...

And no, I won’t bother going into what direction I think Porsche should go with specialty cars like the GT2…still licking the wounds from those threads, as well as reading similar threads pertaining to improvements to the marque.

Well no ****... I can't believe some retard fanboys still think a 480hp, 3,800lb coupe can run the Nurburgring as fast as Porsche Carrera GT, a 605hp 3,000lb racecar

12.6 @ 111mph is what a 480hp, 3,800lb should do. A car with that power to weigh ratio will have a tough time braking 11's in the 1/4 mile. The early "test cars" had to have at least 550hp+ to achieve those times. I feel really bad for these fanboys who are now stuck with these hyped-up GTR's that can't even beat an M3 at the dragstrip

I agree completely!!!!

The GT2 would have a very hard time beating the Viper ACR, but as a package I feel that it was easily the best in that group.
