If you pay sticker for any car right now, you're getting ripped off. California is above 10% unemployment, and 9 million foreclosures are looming in the background.
Paying a markup would be downright silly, this isn't 2007.

Couldn't agree more. No question about the economy. The question is how long it will take for the Nissan dealers realize this, the vast majority of whom are still marking the cars up and turning down MSRP offers.

Reminds me of the housing market in Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, and Irvine.

+1, nissan stealers = fools. I would be letting the cars go even with a small margin of profit, just to keep my inventory down... that's what everyone else in the industry is doing. They just don't UNDERSTAND... when the 2010 hit the show room...they will $hyt their pants...

MY2010 is not hitting anytime soon. My dealer told me that they are not getting another MY2009, and this was 3 months ago. Also, Nissan is not shipping dealers any GTR's unless they specifically order one and hope to get an allocation. I guess if a dealer does not think they can sell it for MSRP or more, they are just not going to order one.

I had a 2010 sitting at the port waiting for release later this month. I happened to walk into a 2009 2 weeks ago where the dealer was going under so I took that instead. The dealer I got mine from had 3 on the lot, 2 reds and the white one I swooped up. The reds went back to the port and will be reallocated as the dealer closed down.
Economics 101 ... supply and demand, it really doesn matter what economy we are in, there are people that still have money and want these cars. If there are people willing to pay then its not too much (Adam Smith I think said it best- the father of economics)
It sucks for those that are looking for the deal though. Nissan markups on their regular lines (maxima, versa, sentra, etc) are basically nil- they sell their cars to get the customers in for parts, service, and other amenities right now in these trying times. These are the cars that they need to move off their flooring lines. These are the bulk quantity cars that cost them more with the wholesale company. But with the "one off" GT-R, they would rather wait for the person who doesnt care and make 15k over invoice. They can get it right now because the appetite for these cars is still there. The opposite holds with the MBZ Black Series CLK- sticker of 138k was just too much. Sure the dealer got the initial rich boys to pay all the money but I see new ones selling for under 100k. yes its a year old but used ones are in the high 70's.
Ill tell you one thing, its worth all the money!! (GTR)
