No need for insults.

Can this be an infraction candidate?

Yes, and yet another example of how things get off topic in here and how on a daily basis members violate forum rules with insults

Every performance car advertises it's 0-60 and quarter mile times. Nissan is no different than any other manufacturer. Whats your point?

It's gonna be real interesting to see how the PDK tranny holds up to a high HP awd application if they decide to put it in the '10 tt. Wonder if it'll have an LC feature?

You have a lot of 98 and 99 Boxsters on your 200 page dissertation that correct me if I'm wrong were 2.5 liter engines? Are you saying those motors and the 3.4 liter both had major problems? I'm confused.......and choking on crow

BOXSTERS:

"just had my 1998 boxster engine blow, only 37000 miles, dealer wants 11000 for new engine, are there any other options.
thanks Zartie"

"im driving on the highway as usual when i hear a little noise and suddenly my boxster comes to a hault...yes the mechanic said the engine blew...does n e one know where i can buy another engine for cheap??"

"Add me to the list! 99 boxster, 50K miles, carefully driven, white smoke and a blown engine. I haven't talked to Porsche yet but I will."

"It looks like my 98 Boxster with 54K is leaking exhaust into the coolant, so my engine may be the next to go on the list of failed engines."

"My 1998 boxster blew in jan05 with 24,000 km"

"The engine in my 2003 boxster s went at 15,000 miles."

"My 2003 blew a motor at 20,000 miles"

"We just had the same thing happen with our '00 Boxster at 15k miles. Porsche did give us a new engine and we paid about $3k for the R/R"

"I believe I am the latest addition to this unhappy club. Sitting in traffic on 6/26/05 I suddenly found myself without a working engine in my '99 Boxster with 12,700 miles. No warranty. Owned for 29 days."

"Bought a 2004 boxter 20000 miles and 6 weeks later engine blew not due to excessive use."

"Intermediate shaft failed 25k miles.Yada yada engine failed.Porsche contacted.Waiting for reply.Porsche mechanic 20+ years exp.stated very common failure,factory corrected w/redesign bearing+shaft Late 04."

"About three months ago, I'm in Miami traffic going no more than 20 mph when I hear the horrible sound coming from my engine. I look out my rear view mirror and sure enough there is this huge cloud of white smoke behind me. I immediately pull over and see there is not only white smoke coming out of my exhaust, even flames. I have only owned this car for 8 months and am scared out of my mind!"

"I am now a member of this club. Mine is a 2003 Boxster with 38K miles"

"My 03 Boxster blew its engine due to the crankshaft bearing disintegrating"

"I just had the same thing happen to my 2003 Boxter S with 42 K miles."

"What is it with Boxster engines and Porsche. Mine's just blown (intermediate shaft again!) and Porsche GB told me to go away because the warranty had expired. It's a 2002 model with only 14,000 miles and a Official Porsche Service history since new."

"My 1999 Boxster engine just blew this past Saturday. The case cracked. The dealer did tell me it would be $11k."

"Broken engine after 14,000 miles. Should Porsche be held to account?"

"
I have the new model 2005 boxster with less then 6,000 miles. Driving into Beverly Hills stopped at a traffic lights when I heard a click noise and then the car stops dead. Engine busted."

"Another one for the club. My 05 Boxster engine went out a couple of days ago. The car is driven a lot but not hard. 30k miles in fact."

"I will never buy another Porsche as long as I live, my 03 Boxster was towed into the Porsche specialist this morning following a breakdown on Sunday, ive just had a call to inform me its engine failure again!!! The engine was replaced at 13,000 mile by Porsche GB (good will claim) in May 2006 after the intermediate shaft disintegrated, I cannot believe this has happened again after another 17,000 mile."

"I have a 2001 Boxster I bought certified. I have had the car for a year and a half, and yesterday the engine blew the white smoke of death from its exhaust. No engine lights, no overheating, nothing but death. The mileage was 88,000."

"Engine started spewing white smoke from the exhaust. No problem, no warning, well maintained,75,000 miles, is the engine toast?"

"My 1998 Boxster engine is ingesting coolant at an alarming rate. The engine is still performing, but the end is inevitable and after two pressure checks, I've been told that it needs to be replaced. Porsche wants nothing to do with my problem and was nearly beligerant on the the phone when I called to respond to their letter declining to help."

"I recently purchased a 97 boxster and now six months later the engine needs to be replaced. The big end bearing failed and there is some damage to the crank shaft."

"My 98 had about 4K miles. I was pulling out in traffic and was going past 50MPH or so and the next thing I see is all the instruments light up and the sound of rushing wind (top was down). I pulled (slid) off the road as soon as possible and a waft of oily smoke rolled into the cabin. There was a period of time where the cylinder liners would come loose causing all sorts of havoc."

"I'm new to this so if I make errors, I apologize. I have a boxster with 59,650 miles. I paid it off two weeks ago. I realized last week that my extended warranty expired 7 weeks ago. My engine failed last week."

"my engine blew in a 2003 Boxster just 2 days ago is this a Boxster problem?"

"just had a similar problem. The engine in my 1999 Boxster just blew also. It only has 35,000 miles but of course I am also out of warranty. I just can't believe that the engine on a car like this can't last more than 35,000 miles"

"I just had the same thing happen to me on my 1999 Boxster. I was driving on the freeway when my engine stopped working. I only have 25K miles and always serviced the car. I am pissed that a Porsche engine cannot even make it to the first scheduled maintenance at 30K miles. "

"my engine blew at 10,000 miles. I didn't know you had to replace your engine every 10,000 miles."

"Hi, my boxster which has done 80,000kms, the motor expired because the liners on cylinder 5-6 have moved and so the engine started drinking coolant."

"My engine on my 97 boxster just went. After 48K this surely can not be right."

"I have a 2000, only have 7K on it but @ 3200 miles I had an oil leak, took it in for service and they said it was the rear main seal. picked it up and took it home only to have the same problem 2 weeks later. took it back and was told the motor was junk."

"just had the engine in my 2001 Boxster S go last week."

"My 2001 Boxster S just experienced the "piston sleeve slip" according to the Dealer, at 42,000 miles. Out of warranty and out of luck per the Dealer and Porsche of America. No warning except low coolant light flashing. If this is a design defect, common law warranties will apply. Does anyone have evidence, beyond rumor, that the sleeve was a poorly designed fix to a problem with the block?"

"I also just had my engine blown. It is a 2000 Boxster S with the same problem as you have. I am starting a blog on my actions towards Porsche and I will also contact media."

"2 days ago my 02 Boxster with 27K miles blew up with no warning."

"I was just informed today that I need to have my 2001 Boxster S engine replaced. I'm just out of warranty."

"My second '99 Boxster engine just blew with 650 miles on it."

"My 1998 Boxster blew its engine a few months after I bought it, with 6700 miles on the engine."

996 911:

http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/por...5470010-1.html

"also had an engine go out on me at 30,000."

"Well I purchased a 99 C2 convertible, and after having it for 6 months:
A) It's been in the shop for 4 months
B) At 600 miles it's blown an engine while driving on the freeway, causing the car to almost burst into flames, as it started a fire in the engine compartment, multiple holes in the engine block and cracks due to the rod flying all over the place. Response from porsche? Sending us a letter and we'll look into it... And since the engine is useless, I couldn't send the core back for any type of refund... $12,000 down the drain.
C) At 300 miles the clutch and flywheel went out on me while driving... $3000
D) The starter went out on me... $600
E) Radiator... bye bye..
F) another $3000 in repair costs, oil changes, etc..
G) Total time in Garage 3 weeks. Total time in repair shop, 5 months."

"I am having the same problem on my 99 911 with 73k on it. They are going to have to replace the engine. "

"I would assume everyone has their own opinion on this question. I am the recipient of a 99-996-C2 with a brand spanking new motor at only 35K. I purchased the car (my 1st Porsche) from a friend who bought a Cayenne a month after replacing the motor. The car was flawless and garage kept (at home and at work). ALL repairs and maintenance was performed at the dealer (including tire replacement) and the motor still went bad."

"There are 997s with engine failures! I love these cars, but they are not what they used to be. Just ask the guy with the 2002 cab with a bright red face in the service section of the dealership who is on his THIRD engine with 9K miles!"

"a blown engine probably pretty soon.. the 99s are notorous for them... mine lasted an amazing 49k miles.. $12,000 later... (still bitter at porsche as one can tell) most everyone I know with a 99, eventually runs into a blown engine, as with the 93+ rx7s.. comes with the territory unfortunately..."

etc etc etc....

Yes that is the sound of crows flapping I hear....

That's funny. I used to own a Boxster and drove the **** out of it for 3 years and had 0 issues. 50,000 miles later the car ran stronger than ever.
