Another bad tranny issue.....

Another bad tranny issue.....
.... that ended well (for me).
Car threw a code on track a couple of weeks ago for tranny problems. I was able to limp home, but only odd gears were working. Code was related to a bad solenoid, not bad gear or clutch pack.
Just got word that my tranny WILL be covered under warranty. I spoke with Bill Grossy (sp?) who said:
1. Computer shows two launch controls;
2. Computer shows ECU reprogramming and higher than normal boost levels (I told him I used AccessPort);
3. Computer shows multiple parameters showing very hard driving and fluid temps in upper end of the range.
He was very clear that these factors COULD have been used to deny warranty coverage IF they felt they were related to the failure. However, they felt that these things were NOT related and, therefore, they will pay for a new tranny.
Other than waiting 17 days for the answer, I am a (reasonably) happy camper.

i'm not sure if i'm surprised, relieved, or happy...
but i'm certainly happy for you. it sounds like nissan does indeed back up the component.
i'm especially overjoyed, because i, too, am a cobb accessport user. and this takes a load off of my mind.
time to get that y-pipe/exhaust and get the cobb tuned up to 600hp (500whp on a mustang).

it's not like nissan is the only company that has issues (porsche pdk, etc...). the issue i saw, was how nissan was perceived handling the warranty claims...
it appears that not only are they finally handling them as expected, but are introducing an 'authorized' way to launch the car (in 'r' mode), via flashing the ecu.

Well, nothing I guess. Since it has not happened to many cars, I assume it is a rare part defect. If it fails again, I will get it replaced again or (at my option under CA law) I suppose I could force them to Lemon Law the car. It will have been down close to 30 days already by the time I get it back.

oh yeah I forgot, NOTHING BREAKS!!! I dont know why warranties are even issued by manufactures. Ships dont sink, Planes dont fall out of the sky, and complex cars are worry free....
CHRISN is not trying to "intentionally" break his car! He cant control what breaks. If it does, then he asks Nissan to fix it. Just like anyone would with ANY car with ANY warranty coverage.

yeah, i agree... i mean, why couldn't nissan build a solenoid that doesn't fail for any reason?
i think any time any part fails on any car, regardless if it's covered under warranty, we should all hate the car, and never buy that kind again.
let me know what car that is, so we can all buy the kind you have, you know, the one that never had any failures. at all. out of the entire inventory, ever.
but hey, what do i know? - we should focus on the .03% of cars that experience issues. and ignore the 99.97% success rate. that's unacceptable.

because this contradicts the information given to owners.
i guess they should have cc'd all of the speculators...
because then you'd know that we are getting a better program. and the ability to launch the car in vdc-r, to lower 0-60 times better than were before even with launch control, and you don't have to disengage vdc.
