GTR wins One Lap of America

Nissan has been around a while too... The old Skylines and Z's have plenty of trophies as well...
None of that crap matters to me either.
Koenigsegg hasn't been around but for three and half days, and they've built a hell of beast that could give Ferrari's best a run for its money.
GT-R's have hand assembled engines mated to hand assembled transmissions. I didn't get the point of mentioning the word 'craftsman', as if to say an engineer working for Porsche is a craftsman, and an engineer working for Nissan is a factory worker.
And the ZR1 would beat a Ferrari's a$$, but it is not as beautiful (my subjective opinion). And I agree it's not all about performance, there are so many other reasons I like the GT-R over other comparable cars.

^Good points. I agree that branding and perception of a brand play a role in the cost of an item. I have seen two identically priced items from different brands with one of inferior quality but a good brand, and the other, while not as highly esteemed was actaully a better product. One had quality parts but poor marketing the other had good marketing but poor parts...same cost on the market to cover overhead and make a profit. Good point, good post. Point taken.

The only time I that have seen them on tracks (Homestead and Sebring), the drivers weren't pushing them at all. I couldn't get a read as to whether they were anywhere near the hype. A friend of mine is currently contemplating the purchase of a GT-R, and I am actually encouraging it just so that I can actually see one driven the way it was designed to be driven.

"The truth is, you get exactly what you pay for", Not always true.
- Did you know that Japanese movement in watches are more accurate than Swiss movement? But Swiss movement watches always cost more - even if the materials used are the same.
- In 1litre street bikes, the Ducatti costs a lot more than the equivalent Japanese bikes. But the Ducatti always loses out in performance, feel, reliability, etc etc.
In reality, you do get what you pay for up to a certain point. After that, the law of 'diminishing returns' plays a large part and separating one product from another basically comes down to brand name and marketing.
So from your perspective, the price of the GTR is line ball with the M3, Porsche Cayman S. Do you honestly believe that those two mentioned cars are in the same class as the GTR when it comes to performance, build quality, reliability?
Something for you to think about. Did you know that Japanese built cars are the most reliable?

They should watch out for the Chinese and the Koreans to take over that mantle pretty soon.
Speaking of reliability, heres one story I saw while trawling through other forums today.
Toyota Hybrid Breaks Down, Towed Off Track Before NASCAR Event
A Toyota Highlander Hybrid parade vehicle used for driver introductions at Lowe's Speedway this past weekend wouldn't start and had to be towed. Hopefully we won't see this from next weekend's Camry hybrid pace car.
"Check out this Toyota Highlander Hybrid parade vehicle used as part of the driver introductions for the All-Star race this past weekend at Lowe's Speedway. When all the cars started up to drive away, this one wouldn't start, so they had to tow it. Supposedly the crowd was going crazy laughing..."

No. I haven't been here in a while, and I just looked at my reps, and some dumba$$ who thinks I 'dinged' him. Gave me neg reps for what appears to be no reason. And the post he/she/it referenced was on this thread.
