Dr_jitsu, I've got 9113 miles and not one problem. It is a fantastic daily driver, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the car besides some paint issues but I drive her like shes stolen. If you've got the opportunity, I would definitely recommend a GT-R to a fellow enthusiast now that I have confidence the car can take whatever I've thrown at it, now to decide whether I am going to get the Cobb tune or not...

There is a higher HKS kit, now. But the above combo will net around 550-600awhp (depends on who tunes it).
what dyno would that be? also what aWHP can we expect with just a AP Cobb tune and Mid pipes ?

I got say one thing " Gtr is by far the most interesting car of the year" ..

Thanks/.

On a mustang dyno, the average is about 400awhp.

Dynojet is around 450awhp.

On that mustang with a Cobb AP - 425-430awhp (Stage 1).

Y-pipe (mid-pipe) and Cobb AP Stage 2 - 450-475awhp.

What you don't see in those numbers is the area under the curve. This is the improvement you see over 80mph.

Thanks that saved me a lot of searching on Nagtroc. Also what do you guys think about the transmission related limp modes people have been complaining about? My friend who has AP and Midpipes had a limp mode which the dealer resolved. Any thoughts?

Also what trap speeds are expected of AP and Ap+midpipes cars?

Another good option for the "warranty conscious" folks is the NISMO ECU upgrade. You pay $3k, pick up around 50 rwhp and it's installed by a Nissan dealer and you maintain FULL WARRANTY. After 2 or 3 years, you can lease it for additional time... If you don't choose to, you get your stock ECU back...

AP 11.40 @ 122.

Other GT-R just y-pipe and exhaust - 11.34 @ ???.

AP Stage 2 + Y-pipe - 11.2-4 (too many conflicts to provide concrete).

Others are getting tuned specifically for their cars - custom tune.

AP Custom tune + Y-pipe = 11.1 @124-126mph.

I've had my car go into limp mode - but it was Cobb induced (tune pulls boost for some reason - custom tune).

As far as transmission limp mode, I'm not exactly sure what to think of those. Other than the dealer clears the codes and you go on about your business.

The Cobb AP can clear codes as well (this came in handy when the wife went airborne at VIR and threw two dozen codes and went into another limp mode (wouldn't go over 125mph)).

Limp mode in one way is good thing. Nothing like a factory ECU safeguard, when boost spikes over a set threshold.

I cant wait to see some 60-130 times out of GTR's , that would be very interesting for comparisions. We all know ..nothing can get closer to the car at low speeds.

Sean, come by the shop and check out our parts and upgrades. Including the twin GT30R set-up we are now building. There are dozens of shops and mail order outfits that all sell the same stuff more or less. Come see for yourself what sets our GTR upgrades apart from the rest.

BTW, I hear that Peter recently got the GTR itch too. You guys dont have any kind of competition going on do you?

Hey John,

Actually, I am doing a sniffabout for my friend who just got a GTR...I love what you did w/ your GTR. However he is pretty conservative and would probably be happy w/ something that just gives him another 100 hp or so.

That monster you built runs 37K (plus car, lol) yes?

Have you gotten a 60-130 on her yet?

John other than the obvious turbo upgrade was there any other work done to the engine internals? How are you going to get around the transmission issues? What upgrades do you plan on doing there?

Cant wait to see it run
