GT-R Owners -- Word of Warning

My car died; would not start; dealer could not resolve the problem despite having the car for 2 days -- no TSBs

Had to tow it to the dealer; a little key graphic came up in the lower right hand corner of the console

Went to another forum and found the issue (and got a little help from Mitch) -- the steering lock mechanism, which controls whether the key fob is recognized by the car, FAILED.

They are failing at a very high rate; so if you car cannot start and has the key graphic it is this problem

Tell your dealer to call the GT-R central tech to immediately overnight the part -- covered by warranty

Thanks Orlando!

Seen a lot of this on other forums as well.

Sad. Hopefully a TSB will come out soon.

Just had this happen earlier this week. Only took one day for the problem. Dropped off at 4pm Tuesday, picked up next day at lunch. All under warranty.

Another issue!! I'm about to jump on one of these. I guess all cars have small issues like this. At least it wasn't anything major.

Dealer replaced steering column. We are trying to find a range of VIN's or some kind of consistency of failures, but it seems like all the 'B' series columns are being replaced by the 'C' series columns when they fail.

There's a recall on this item in Japan. I would assume the recall would also effect US cars shortly.
