The DBA is going to be insane.
I think its gonna make alot of guys driving different marques jealous lol. Cant wait to see it vs the new PDK TT 911. Should be epic. Would be nice to see a Vspec version of the DBA chassis with about 600hp down the line.

New and Improved!

Its one year later, so how are we doing? I was just reading through some old threads trying to get a feel for the updates performed on the 2012, especially with the 2013 model coming out soon.

The 2009-11 GTR has a Cd of 0.272 with front lift (-53 lb) and rear lift (-53 lb) giving a combined total lift of -106 lbs (-48Kg) at 152 mph (245 kph). It has a frontal area of 22.5 sq-ft with a CdA of 6.12 sq-ft. These figures met the original targeted design objectives for this Grand Touring Car concept. Oh, it also has 485 bhp.

The 2012 GTR has a Cd of 0.268 with front (-53 lb) and rear (-58 lb) and a combined total lift of -111 lbs at 152 mph (245 kph). It has a frontal area of 22.5 sq-ft with a CdA of 6.03 sq-ft. It has 530 bhp.

FYI: The 2011 Turbo S CdA = 6.84 sq-ft.

Greater improvements no doubt would come from lowering the GTR by 1/2 to 1 inch which would markedly improve the Cd numbers and CdA. But you then may not want to then drive this car on streets that are suspect (manhole covers), or drive in snow to become beached!

Coil-overs and a carbon fiber front lip would be a way to really improve the GTR's performance. Increasing horsepower, suspension stability, transmission cooler, and better tire performance would seem to give the most bang for the buck IMO. And fortunately, these items are the most easily upgraded in any GTR model to give much better overall street and track performance.

As far as car companies go, I really don't think Nissan is going to change its main objective, which is to make the GTR the most sophisticated Grand Touring Production Car on the planet. Their goals may not coincide with the 1/4 mile Drag racer or the Formula 1 race car driver. That to me is why we continue to have a vibrant aftermarket along with those willing and able to fork over the big bucks to play!

So what should we expect in the 2013 NAMY? Driving over 152 mph is impossible at most tracks in the USA, so I don't know. Hopefully the continued minor improvements in this car will make it greater than the overall sum of its parts, which will probably drive the aftermarket to be even better. This is Just my $0.02 worth of thought.
