twin brother

I have a 2010 GT-R that will soon have a cobb y pipe plus tune and k and n filters... and that's it for now. I will be one of the least modded cars on the forum but willing to do more as time and money permit. My identical twin brother does DE events like me with his 09 M3 sedan but now that I have a GT-R he couldn't stand it and is getting a 2012 pearl blue one in the next 2 weeks. He couldn't have me blowing him away on the track so now that his stock car is faster I am hoping my modest mods will be enough to even the playing field. Do you think we will be even or do I need to do more? Any input will be appreciated in the sense of good brotherly competition.

I would think even with a canned tune and mid-pipe you should be able to match and probably exceed the extra 45hp of the 2012. If you get a custom tune you will get even more power. Your brother will still have the advantage of a true launch control if you race him from a dig.

custom tune and exhaust will destroy your brother..

stock 2012's run 123-124 in the 1/4 and custom tunes run 129-132 .. thats about 5 cars beating..

That is good to know about just a tune and midpipe and an exhaust will add even more. That is a fast 1/4 time. He may flash his car eventually but he will not probably do much to his car to keep the battle between us even....unless I start driving faster than him. We both have about the same de experience and being twins its hard to outdrive yourself genetically.

Genetics only goes so far, and there usually is a variance range encoded. Insist that Twinkies and fried foods are really not that bad for you, eating healthy is for the birds, and that he actually looks like he could bulk up a bit. After a while, his slower reaction times and extra weight may give you a distinct advantage! J.K.

Tachsman,
He exercises more and is 20lbs lighter....I will just have to add hp and torque to make up the difference.
I did get a cobb pipe and tune to match and the car feels very fast. 513hp and 530tq at the wheels per dyno.
A modest start but a good one.
I will let everyone know how the track competition goes with video to prove it....that is if I am faster, ha ha.

Did you Dyno the car before the Cobb pipe and tune? If the difference really is ~100 whp and torque, I plan to go that route as well, or will have to lose 40 lbs.

I did not dyno before and after, unfortunately. I know all of our cars are a little different and it would have been nice to know the real numbers.

Tachsman, see the pic below. Stock vs Cobb Stg 2 vs SPI P600. Dont bother with peak numbers, just look at the difference...

It is our introductory tuning package for the GTR, it includes our full Ti exhaust, HKS drop-in air filters, and the Cobb AP loaded with our calibration, with map switching via cruise control switches.

Scott, divexxtreme did a nice review of it. Dropped the 60-130 nearly 3 seconds from stock.
