2007 Gallardo Nera Edition vs. 2012 Black Edition GTR

Some Christmas Day Fun w/ a friend who's a well know member on here and got used to a gated shifter pretty quickly

The Nera is a 6-speed / Manual. Took these two out and wasn't sure what to expect - Both cars are 100% factory stock.

Nera really surprised us how quick it is!

Run #1 w/ GTR in R Mode in Automatic (big mistake):

Run #2 w/ GTR in Manual Mode:

When did you get the Nera? And if the driver was your Christmas guest - he can shift anything.

Nice pickup. You're going to need a bigger garage.

Below are some side-by-side performance stats I've gathered--seems like the exact hp ratings and weight stats for the gallardo vary, but these should be close and based on these I wouldn't think the cars would be as close as they are...

I really should have started in 2nd on that last race. The Nera just doesn't make enough low-end torque for a 3rd gear start at 3k rpm.

I bet if u started in 2nd on that last run the nera would have either pulled or been even with the GTR. I am cruelly surprised at how fast the nera is!

The GTR was in 3rd gear and we started both times from 50 mph... I think either car could prevail depending on what speed/gear/rpm started at as they are so close. The first time Scott pulled on the GTR as my wife was driving we were both stunned!

I am not sure where you sourced your Gallardo time but they seem to be WAY off. Here are some tests of the 2004 Gallardo:

Car & Driver: 0-60: 4.1s 1/4m: 12.4 @ 118mph
http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...ardo-specs.pdf

Motor Trend: 0-60: 4.3s 1/4m: 12.5 @ 116.7mph
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...rformance.html

Road & Track: 0-60: 4.0s 1/4m: 12.3 @ 117.4mph
http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/ca...allardo_page_4
(see downloadable data panel)

Not many tests on the 2006 upgrade...here is one with a Spyder being tested by Motor Trend: (0-60: 3.8s 1/4m: 12.1 @ 116.3mph)

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...s_pricing.html

Even the Superleggera is faster than your times above:

Road & Track: 0-60: 3.4s 1/4m: 11.7 @ 121.3mph

http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/up...o-superleggera

Car & Driver: 0-60: 3.5s 1/4m: 11.7 @ 123mph

http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...-sup-08-ts.pdf

The LP560s have also been tested faster:

Did you not read my post? I stated very clearly that the posted stats vary widely depending on the source! Thank you for reconfirming this

Are you being serious? Because if you are ...what a disappointing response. I read your post... your exact quote is "it seems like the exact hp ratings and weight stats for the gallardo vary, but these should be close". So you said the WEIGHT and the HP RATINGS VARY.... but the stats in general "should be close"...well guess what...the 1/4 mile acceleration times are NOT close. Do you think your 14.0s 1/4 mile time is close to a 12.3-12.5s time?

And by the way to clear up your confusion as to the hp ratings the 2004-2005 Gallardo should have 493hp under an SAE rating and sometimes they publish the 500hp PS/DIN (metric rating). This is also the case for later models (i.e. 512hp SAE bs 520hp PS, SL's 523hp SAE vs 530hp PS and the LP560s 552hp SAE vs 560hp PS).
