Motor Trend comparison test: 2012 Porsche Turbo S vs 2013 GT-R

Nope. Good point.
While a bunch of GT-Rs have run 9's on 20" R-Comps or OEM tires, only a couple of Porsches have done it on anything other than 18" DRs. One was Switzer's Sledgehammer 997TT on 19" R888s.

No doubt, Nissan is getting the GT/R honed as a real hard balled sports car and for 2013 they made sure they keep the momentum and the - for sports fanatics only - direction. Now let's see what the new 991T will have to show next year. The price difference including Sales / VAT tax will be getting really close to 100K dollars in the US , about 200K dollars in some other countries, Australia, Hong-Kong / Singapore and others. Exciting times for sure!!

At Car & Driver's Lightning Lap the 997 Turbo S ran a 2:57.5 lap on VIR's Grand Course. A '12 GT-R ran 2:53.2 and an '09 GT-R ran 2:55.6. They even ran an '09 GT-R with the OEM All season tires to a 2:59.0 lap time. The only caveats are that the Lightning Laps were different times and possibly different drivers from year to year. Although they do mention that they try to be very consistent and use only the best lap times from a handful of attempts each year.
As far as dealer service....I have had many "special" cars through the years (E39 M5, Audi RS6, CL65 AMG...etc) and I have found the Nissan service to be just as good...if not better than the others. When I bring the GT-R in to my Nissan dealer for service...there is almost a sense of occassion and the service advisor and service manager actually verbalize how much they appreciate my visit and how they will take special care of my GT-R. I have been given a loaner right away (the last two times I got a brand new Maxima SE). Contrast that with an almost "snooty" attitude displayed at other "high-end" dealers and an Enterprise rentals that were mediocre at best.

But it is also possible that not everybody reports their runs on that page. I know I didn't.

Scott,
Did Switzer have to open the motor on your current car (IE can one make 900whp on a stock block)?
Back to the aesthetics, some like blonds, some like brunettes. Guys on the GT-R forum probably find the car good looking ( I have friends w/ ugly wife's who think they are beautiful).
But as I mentioned, that is not what draws me to the GT-R. I want the performance. I am looking to get into another roll on King and in my neck of the woods, an 800 rwhp GT2 can no longer hang. Someone asked if there were still some Porsche roll on monsters and yes, there are several cars over 1100 whp, but they are sticks and you simply cannot compete with the PDK shifters. Unless you have 350 large and can have a stage 3 UR Lambo, they GT-R is going to be the King of roll ons which is my primary interest.

My car has a built motor, built tranny and makes 927/750 on 93. Drives like stock.
Call me anytime and I'll give you the scoop.

Jitsu.. just do it bro! I get my car from Switzer sometime next week. Even though it is just the "starter" kit...LOL... I am sure it will be quite entertaining to drive.

Only one. A comparison vid I made against my buddy's P800. Link below.
As far as 9-second daily, it truly is. I have already ran multiple 9's in full street trim (at over 4000 lbs) on my 20" street tires, but the weather was very hot and humid that day and my launch RPM was too low for the R888s. Now that we've made a few tweaks, I plan on going back to the track on a cooler day and will post my results afterwards.

I own a GT-R but I find the 997 Turbo S highly desirable (I have said many times that a 997 Turbo S would be sitting in my garage if money were no object). You seem to selectively ignore facts in "closing your case". With any car comparison there is very rarely a "case closed" argument....unless of course you are dealing with fanatics...and remember only a Sith Lord deals in absolutes...
