CHP lasering between Page Mill and Alpine on 280

I wonder if that K40 jammer thing that secures to the front plate works..
At the lambo dealer, we used to take the jammers apart and mount on the front bumper, hense no front plate.

from the research i done a few months back, AL G8 seems to be the V1 of laser jammers:

on the other hand, K40 would probably be better than what i have now: nothing.

They first estimate your speed, and then confirm via Radar/Lidar. I spent 40 hours in a Radar/Lidar instructor class. The jammers are a waste of money and will get you in trouble. If you are speeding, and they have a problem tracking your vehicle, they can stop and cite you for the visual estimate. Many officers are trained to look for Jammers, and if it is found, you have real trouble. Good luck!

most officers i spoke with, while seem to be really nice guys, dont really have any idea. sure, there are some which are "into it" -- they read radar detector forums, etc. but 90% of officer i spoke with told me "laser cant be jammed"
jammers are not a waste of money. they work. just like people who were telling me getting a V1 is a waste of money and it saved me many times in the past.
oh, and it is hard to do visual estimate if the object is moving directly at you btw

C'mon, using laser/lidar is like shooting fish in a bucket. If they get an error on your car, they'll just target the next poor sap 5 seconds later. It makes their life alot easier, and reduces the chances of the offender going to court, which is a major PITA for them.

It's not hard at all. All CHP and any else trained in Lidar/Radar is certified at estimating speed. To pass the class, you must be able to estimate speed while you stationary and while moving in a patrol vehicle. The test include targets moving towards you. If you are travelling much faster than the cars around you, you have a better chance of being stopped. I am a motorcycle traffic officer, and have been using Radar/Lidar for 15 years. I can tell you a few things. If your detector is visible when stopped, don't expect a break. Also, I know many city officers that gun for those with "11-99" license plate frames. They see it as you trying to get out of the citation. Just a heads up.

Here's a question, as a cop, if you were operating a laser/lidar gun, and had a car threw the error code for jammer, what would you do, aside from give he/she a ticket based on estimated speed?

Interesting. Most cops i've met go for the "easy kills" when doing speed traps. Like I said, its like shooting fish in a bucket, so why not take the easy ones??

Officer: "your honor, i had to visually estimate speed because my radar gave a false reading"
that would make a nice precedent for fighting future tickets where you could say "look, in the past my car produced incorrect readings, so what makes you think this time is accurate"

that is super cool!!! welcome to the board. which city do you work in? or do you work CHP? it always help to have an insight from "the other side" so to say ... oh... and promise no tickets if you pull me over?
look, i honestly think you are an exception to the rule and not the rule. i think that most officers, when they come home, don't spend time on the forums. some do, but most don't. i think its great that you are doing this (and i am not saying this to kiss ***, forums are great source of wealth and information)
here are a few stories of my own:
1. got hit by lidar on 280 in january. went to court. officer was really cool (especially since i was cracking jokes how my only strategy was hoping he wouldn't show up). we talked a bit before the court started and i asked him if he seen a lot of people use ladar jammers. he said they dont work (which in fact they do, as can be seen by various product testings such as Guys Of Lidar, etc.)
2. chatted up a couple of SCPD motorcycle officers with laser guns while there were having coffee. made a few jokes how "the game is over now", but again, asked their opinion about laser jammers. and again, while officers were friendly and nice, i just didnt get an impression i was talking to somebody who was a "LIDAR jammer nerd" with a lot of time spent on various forums
i do think laser jammers work. do you have any proof they dont? i poured over the latest Guys Of Lidar report and the jammers are at 90% success rate.
and regarding 11-99. i am not sure what you mean "city officers gunning for people with those frames". i got pulled over by non-CHP officers (sheriff or city) twice over the last 4 years or so and both times the officers didnt know what it was. i explained what it was and said that "it should in no way influence you doing your job" ... i got warning one time and ticket another time (i was 10mph over, nothing major). the time i got a ticket the sheriff said that while he would like to give me a break (because at first he though i was drinking for some strange reason, which i never do). but he couldnt give me a break because he had an in-car camera recording the incident.

GTS:
one more question for you. have you personally ever gone after somebody who had a laser jammer? the way i read CVC, it is just an infraction to have a laser jammer -- which means a ticket, right? do you get a point on your record for it? do you have to get it "fixed" and signed off?
when you say "many officers are trained to look for Jammers, and if it is found, you have real trouble" -- what do you mean "real trouble"?
according to CVC its just an infraction:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc28150.htm
isnt infraction basically a ticket? just a fine and no jail time or arrest?
(edit: btw, i am talking about laser jammers here. i know radar jammers will get you into "real trouble" )

Having a jammer should simply be an infraction. Pay a fine, and no points since its a non-moving violation.
Leading back to my last question, my question is whether an officer is actually going to try to impound a car so the CHP/PD can strip it down to find a laser jammer?? They can be installed these days so there is no way an officer could find it with a quick visual inspection. I highly doubt it's a priority and efficient use of the officers time to strip down a car so they can issue a ~$100 citation. Also, I doubt giving a citation based on an error reading from the gun is going to hold up in court.
Jammers do work, there is plenty of evidence.
