Guys, be very careful with passing along names. I would not offer a name to anyone on this board unless I had met them in person, and was sure they were not going to also pass it around...

Cool shops are hard to find and they should be paranoid.

Thank you for everyone's advice!

I guess I just worried too much. I took Ria's advice and took my car to a local smog place and passed the smog check easily (the 2nd time, with the tech guy had some tech problem the 1st time). The cost was $30 (with a coupon ) + certificate.

Alex, thank you for helping me over the phone today; I had to drop off since I was up for ordering In-and-Out . Happy moving to the new place and let us know if you'll have an open-house. I can imgagine it will be a spectacular "Porsche" gathering. Hope you'll run some grandopening specials on GT35s (JK) .

Recently had my IS-F smogged by this shop recommeded from s2ki guys. Great shop, REALLY open space and guy knows what he is doing.

They even had the tool to pick up the RPM without plugging anything into the car to detect rpm speed. I was in and out probably in like 15 minutes. Cost was $40 bucks talk about a great deal!

Location is in Hayward if you guys are interested, PM me

I believe that is a common backup tool. The guy from the shop said that the rpm clip was broken and he had to use the backup, which he had to play around to get a good read. He told me that the box can sense sparks.

lwl,
just go to a shop that you deal with normally and make sure to run your car like 30 min. prior. The shop that I used is in San Ramon.

M: drop your stock system and car off at Mark's and he'll take care of it in few hours, then return your car back to you with your Speedtech installed and certificate in hand.
