Bumper repair

So, I finally took off the front license plate from my recently purchased 997TT and there are four terrible looking holes. I could go with bumperplugs.com, but wondering if I have any other options?

Does anyone know of any local specialists that could tackle a repair like this? Any idea on cost?

Thanks much.
Scott

If you don't want to go with the bumper plugs, you're probably looking at a body shop to have the holes filled and the bumper repainted. I'm guessing you'll probably pay a little over $1K if the whole bumper is reconditioned and painted. Add another $500 if you're putting a clear bra on. Just ballpark. Make sure they'll color match your paint well.

Since my car already had the front plate on when I bought it -- I decided to just leave it on so I wouldn't have to worry about the fix it tickets. It bothers me about the same as the rear wiper (i.e. not at all ).

Hey Eugene, thanks for the response. Yes, I may end up in the same situation. I'm just looking for options. I was hoping there is a mobile type of paint guy out there that could patch this up? Wishful thinking, probably...

Hi Scott

For mobile service, I would contact lmcartouchup.com My best guess is it'd be several hundred to do the body work right. Your color can be hard to match.

Since you have holes already, I'd leave the front plate on. Not having it can be a little bit of pain with LE anyways.

Thanks for the tip on the mobile service -- I'll keep that handy too. In the past, many mobile services didn't handle bumpers (polyurethane). I've heard that it's hard to do local fixes on bumpers and match everything well. However, things may have improved since I last checked (which was a while ago).

I also had a front plate when I bought my car. When I had my bumper re-bra'd, I decided not to put it back on; however my front only had two holes. Bumperplugs is a very cheap solution and yet still look decent (came painted)

$350 for the repair from LMI. Seems reasonable--I may do this and find another way to mount the license plate.
