if the trip is company paid, why not get a rental car? makes little sense to worry about transportation of your own car.

Because it would cost $200+ a day to rent something as fun to drive .

At first, my initial thought was to drive it down since cars are meant to be enjoyed! But then on second thought, would you get enough drives in to make it worthwhile? I guess it just depends how much you plan on driving it and what that's worth to you.

/threadjack

Dave, thanks for inviting me to the drive last weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it as I was in Vegas. I'm not able to respond to your PM as I don't have enough posts, but let me the next time you guys are going for a drive - it's my favorite thing to do!

The point to drive the car down is to meet up with some of you guys , Road trip down to Southern cal and just enjoy it. Not in some rent a car as I will have a work car while I am there.

I am staying at the San Leandro The Marina Inn. Nice place near the water , I will have lots of free time so if anything going on let me know. I could always show up in the work car LOL ............

If you're bringing your car down, you should consider doing a track day at Infineon (very close to where you're staying) or Thunderhill (hour and a bit away). Laguna Seca, while being 2 1/2 away would be worthwhile too.

Here are some local clubs who run at tracks around here. I've run with all of them and you get plenty of track time.

Completely agree -- although it's Thunderhill that's farther away (North of Sacramento on I-5). From San Leandro, Laguna Seca should be less than 2 hours and Infineon is about 1 hour? Those two tracks also have the advantage of being near Monterey and Sonoma. A bit more other stuff to do there.

Like we mentioned earlier; if you have a safe place to park your car, it is a good idea to bring her down here because you'll enjoy the weather and roads in the Bay Area.

Which dealership? It might turn out to have been cheaper to bring your car down eh? I'd be interesting your thoughts. Although I like the new 991, I was pleased that I didn't feel compelled to get one compared with my 996TT after my test drive. At least not yet...

I agree. Here's my brief comparison. I'll be interested in your thoughts.

I like the dealership -- I've talked with Barry and John quite a bit in sales. Scott in parts and Gunter/Gary in service have been very helpful to me too. Since we're occasionally running errands down in that area, I sometimes drop my wife off at store down there, and then head over to dealership. You'll probably drive the black 911S they've got there. Have fun!

Just flash your TT and you will feel more than a stock S car. I have a flash and exhaust and to me turbos rev faster and pulls harder than a stock S car... Dont get me wrong it was very nice for a stock car !
